I purchased Counter-Strike Condition Zero a few weeks ago and, at this point, have mixed feelings about it. I'm still a noob to Counter-Strike but an on-line gaming vet with games like Halo and Unreal Tournament. For the first 2 weeks I played the AI to get a basic understanding of everything - obviously, going online right out of the box would just be asking for a raping. The beginner and normal levels were pretty easy to shoot thru but hard and very hard levels were just plain annoying! You start out with level 1 BOT team mates that all get smoked in the first 10 seconds leaving you alone with all the one-shot-wonders. Of course, the conditions for winning the level are much more difficult on the harder settings. You can run out of cash for weapons FAST and dont expect much help from your level 1 and 2 team when all you have is a pea-shooter handgun. Another thing I noticed is the helmet and vest purchase seems like a waste of $$$. I see very little difference in protection when the bullets fly.
I recently decided to give the on-line game a try and have met with no success. I have a legit (purchased) game yet I can't get into a server. Everything signs in properly, I see all the available servers but when I select any server it starts loading up the level and locks up DAMMIT! I've made sure the game is up to date and everything that I'm aware of checks out. My PC is a "barn-burner" (very fast 1 gig of ram, ATI 9800, etc. etc.) so I doubt it's a hardware issue. So....... I've started losing interest and have gone back to Halo and Unreal on-line. If I could get passed this problem I might give it another go but right now.....?
