Please. If an Oklahoman can string a coherent sentence together, anything is possible. Hooked on Phonics rivals dental care as far as what I consider the best invention ever.

That is my current Photoshop masterpiece. Not because of technical industry; not because of aesthetic pleasantness; and obviously not because of the high quality of my camera (Sony FD100 Mavica, pity me). This is a fun exaggerated pic parodying the album cover for 50 Cent's new "The Massacre" album. The HardDisk was a somewhat random two syllable tech word. I do work in HTML (hence th

Lantec said: We will certainly be there to help eliminate the cowardly dogs who did this. I have to correct Lantec. Dogs require provocation to attack. Dogs attack only when necessary. Dogs kill to eat. Terrorists are not dogs; naming them thusly only demeans dogs everywhere with twice the civili

I come before you today to profess a deep and profound shame. I am becoming a Macophile. *Gasps. Large woman faints* This is a culmination of events. I am surrounded by the plastic denisons of usability at school. Osmosis is apparently to blame for part of the conversion. Also, I bought a G1 iPod 5Gb off of my Macky freind. This must have been part of some insidious plot to seal my moral and computational downfall. I love the fact tha

Speaking of the Dashboard widget elite, there are more than a few ideas that I would not mind seing come to fruition. Firstly, one novel Dashboardite displays a list of users accessing ones iTunes shared library. I am not certain whether the funcionality was built into the Windows version of iTunes, but one has to assume that given the fact that the two function identically, this must be the case. Also, a widget that shows the "This J

Whoa whoa whoa! *sound of a record scratching* I hate to end this typo tyrade, but 10.4 is a huge improvement over Panther. I am the last guy to take a bullet for a Mac, trust me. My Compaq lappy is nearer to my heart than any previous pet. But you have to realize that your case is an isolated one. Dashboard and Garage band aside, the OS upgrade has most of its improvements under the hood. You really can tell a difference once you use one

I use 7zip. It has a filebrowser and all of the shell hooks for most users. I usually don't use the browser, as right clicking does the job for me. Also, in addition to zip, rar, and other formats, the fairly obscure 7z format is supported. This is much better compression than zip is. I strongly recommend a look at this fantastic freeware.

I can see your point, zoomba. I think that as far as OS features and UI are concerned, the differences have dissolved between these os's. Basic differences really are the only things that distinguish the appearances and face value operations. I make the assumption that you are some level of power user. Definitely try to ride the line, and don't exclude yourself from either Mac or Windows. I use 10.3 Macs at my school, and an SP2 laptop everywh

I think that the Mac vs PC debate is a matter of taste. It is comparable to buying a Rolls Royce vs "Pimp My Ride". Mac is out of the box usable for almost anything. It comes with word processing, easy browsing and email, system utilities, and an interface designed to appease the noobesque, and crumble to the power user. Windows is more of a blank slate os. It can afford to be as such because of the wealth of available freeware. When I can roll the pay

I am not sure if there is or is not some place for the lowly fledgling skinners to submit our ideas. At the risk of being presumptuous, I post this. Why not have a place, as temporary as it is, for ideas to be put in the forefront. After all, skinners, we are your audience. For my idea, I have to thank WinCustomize for their banners. I glanced at the GameCu

I have to say that Ghz are really irrelevant. I have (and am writing this on) a 2.4 GHz laptop with 486 Mb Ram, but only a 512 or 1024 Kb cache. This really bottlenecks things for me. My 1.6 GHz desktop with a equal amount of ram keeps up with my laptop consistantly. I have stopped being one of the many who looks purely at the meaningless number with "Ghz" infront of it. I scrape by with what I have though...

I have a different but equally annoying problem. The task bar on my PC does the same thing. I can vouch for the fact that this is a skin specific problem. I have this issue with a number of skins. Perhaps it is the version of Windows Blinds that I use (4.5)?

Size is no problem for me. I have no worries about this thing fitting. The booting is the part that worries me. I have used DSL from CD and it works fine. But being the nerd that I am, being able to have that little USB bootable Linux just makes my day. I have heard that the process involves loading the kernel on to the disk and then making it some files to boot from
