WooHoo..... Stardock finally responded and gave me a link to a checkCD zip file. Viola, I'm up and running. I have completed a quick play and 5 levels of a campaign. Save and load functions are working too. Thank you's go out to Stardock and Frogboy (who will grow into a frogman some day, I am sure).

..."Yours sounds like video card issue. I'd contact [email protected], they'll be in a better position to help you."..... hmmm... I'd sent those files to [email protected] (reply #11) with no response (reply #40). I'll try [email protected]. Hopefully I'll get a reply. Thanks
Just like maverick142aj, the patch had no real affect on my similar problem. Now I skip the intro go to a screen with caricature pop-ups. Nothing happens until I hit F1 (no other keys work) and it brings up the states map with lots of digital break-up and artifacts, then crashs to my desktop. I sent my debug.err and dxdiag file to support and did not get an acknowledgment or any type of response. All of my drivers are current and have had only 1 issue
I have a similar problem. I have a GeForce FX card and I think that might be an issue. I sent my dxdiag and debug.err files to [email protected]. I suggest all those experiencing this type of crash do the same. Hopefully there will be a patch available soon.
