Sorry, i think I posted this in the wrong forum first

Whenever I run the game I get the short intro movie and then the game crashes to the desktop. I just updated my directx to 9.0C, Windows XP SP1 and a 9600XT AIW. I have tried using both the 4.5 and newest catalyst drivers and nothing seems to work. I can post my dxdiag later, but does anyone have any suggestions?

Lamont, my build didn't have the CD protection in either.  Are you sure you didn't install that over a 1.0 build?

WooHoo..... Stardock finally responded and gave me a link to a checkCD zip file. Viola, I'm up and running. I have completed a quick play and 5 levels of a campaign. Save and load functions are working too.

Thank you's go out to Stardock and Frogboy (who will grow into a frogman some day, I am sure).

BTW, for those yelling at Stardock pleaes remember we don't officially do support for the game. We're just trying to help. Ubi Soft is in charge of support.

How about passing the fix around to the other people that are in this situation. I have tried to resolve this with ubisoft, stardock and frogboy with not luck so far. What do I have to do to get some use out of this game?

If you guys want to try a test version for us, we have on here:

Requires PolMachine 1.01 to be installed. PLEASE let us know if this works. I've been sending builds to people all week and few people respond back letting me know whether it resolved their problem or not. Because if this fixes it, then we can roll it into a general update to help everyone.

I just bought this game today. I believed I was having problems with the CD protection for this game. PolMachine would give me a CD error message box after a minute of displaying the splashscreen and then kick out to the desktop. I knew it was the CD protection because when I tried the nocd patch, the game worked with no issues or crashes. I had the exact same problem when I first loaded MOO3. I went ahead are reloaded the game, applied the 1.01 patch and tried the "polmachine_test1 patch that Frogboy posted above and the game so far is working fine without any crashes and shows 1.01 at the main menu. I keep playing over the weekend to see if the game will crash. Thanks Frogboy for posting this patch.

If it still doesn't work for you after applying Brad's patch, try running without the intro. Go into Data\Prefs.ini and set SkipIntro=1.
