Yeah, i definitely was looking forward to immersing more in the actual civilization we were building. Maybe interact with buildings, see them in a closer view, see the actual land etc. This totally seems like a gigantic step backward. GC's difference from other 4x space games was that its galaxy, worlds, aliens, everything felt more real and live compared to others. It was easier to get immersed in. Now it seems to have taken a step back towards the legion of games which are mainly statistics

Current planet view/map seems to have dropped the planet's view, map, continents altogether and just left hexes in place. Compared to GC 3 planet view, it feels less immersive and it does not add to the atmosphere of the game. I was expecting GC4 put us more inside the actual galaxy, helping us experience more the civilization we are shaping. But the current map feels like a step back rather than forward. If i put any unique component into any ship, i cant upgrade these later even if i have an identical version of the same ship with just changed vanilla parts. If i upgrade them to vanilla ships, then the precursor equipment is lost, and i cant upgrade them back to a newer version of the same ship with the same unique components. The only way to update a ship using these weapons is to decommission the existing ship, and re-build the ship with updated components. Wh
