I was wondering if we would be able to use an in-game creature creator so that we could design our own “monsters” to use in the game. I was thinking of something similar to how the ship creator was in GalCiv2. I’m sure that the game will come with several pre-made creatures, such as the giant spiders, but it would be cool to be able to add stuff of our own. The fantasy genr

Since its release, there have been several ship style options for Galciv2 that were available for download based on the various Trek, Babylon5, etc. type of ships. I've noticed that many of these ships are no longer in the GCII library. I think I read on the forums that this had something to do with copyright issues. Anyway, does anyone know if there is another website out there (fan site perhaps?) that has several of these ships available for download into GCII:DA? It

The latest version did not work for me with DA. The ship sets didn't match each race properly in the setup screen, and at the screen where you choose your opponents, only some of the default DA races were listed (not the trek races). I unzipped the latest version zip and then copied the folder into the DA Mods folder. Perhaps I did something wrong? It was a great mod and I hope they get it working with DA. At the very least, I'd like to use the Trek style ships as a ship pack(s).<

1. Way to repair starbases (perhaps a constructor module?) 2. AI alignment/relationship setting - This would be a matrix where you could set up each race's demeanor to the other races at the beginning of the game. This is similar to what was available in SEIV (I think!). Currently, you can set the AI relations to the player, but a galactic setting could make for another interesting twist. 3. Terror stars...yeah I know....

Does anyone know how to mod/create your own events? The wiki site doesn't address modding events. Looking at the events file, there are a few options that I'm not clear about. There were tons of user-created events in GalCiv1 and I'm surprised that this isn't being duplicated in the sequel.

CodeCritter, regarding your statement that "Also, the auto-obsolete has been removed now," is this for the next patch? I am playing the latest beta (1.10[b3].014) and the auto-obsolete is still happening. I agree with the other poster regarding the use of ship templates. Having the original disappear is a real pain!

The ship designs look great so far! I look forward to the release. As for other ships, how about the Miranda or Oberth class ships for the "Small Class?" Also, I think that keeping the Defiant at "Medium" is a good move.

Two more suggestions: 1. Computer AI use of player designed ships The game is big on customization, and another neat feature could use our created ship designs for the computer players. Let's say I go through a game as the Thalan, and I create and save several custom ships along the way. In a different game against the Thalan, I think it would be cool to see the computer using those same ship designs and ship class names

So many great suggestions already! I have two minor mod-related suggestions. 1. How about allowing us to use .TXT files for opponent ship class names. These .TXT files would replace "Defender," "Fighter," etc. 2. Make it so the STARS.txt file randomizes for each game. It's annoying to see names like Vizzard and Gladstone every game! The STARS.txt file is large, so I don't think that this should be hard to imp

Sorry if this has already been posted, since we can't search, I couldn't tell! Two questions: 1. Modding - Where in the mod folder does the STARS.txt file go? I tried several places but I still don't see the custom star names in game. I know I could replace the vanilla STARS.txt file, but if possible, I'd rather use the Mods folder. 2. Ships - That we can save ships in the ship builder is nice. But how can we access tho

I look forward to seeing various tv-show scifi ships in this game. While I have no graphical modding skills, I found a web site that already has some popular ships (Trek - Enterprise, Defiant, BSG - Raiders, Vipers, Wars - X-Wings, etc.) in 3D model format. I wouldn't have a clue how to get this into the game, or if they even are compatible formats. To anyone with the modding skills, here 's the link: <a href="http://scifi3d.theforce.net/list.a

Sounds great, thanks for the answer CaretFarmer. With Portrait numbers in the 50s, I figured that you were allowing for several more minor races. So I guess the good news is that all that space from RaceImage10 to RaceImage29 is for major races...

Quick question for you beta testers and/or modders. How easy is it to insert custom minor races into the game? Is it possible, and if so, is all that is required a 256x256 image file and renaming of files? Based on the pre-load files, it looks simple enough, but my knowledge of this stuff is limited. This was fairly easy to do in Space Empires, and I am hoping that it is straightforward here too. (This isn’t meant to start a discussion o

I understand that individual enemy ships can be named, like in GalCiv I. However, I was wondering if you can set the default enemy ship class names. So, for instance, if I had a .txt file of old battleship names, could I use that .txt file to modify the default Drengin/Yor/etc. ship class names? When encountering the enemy ships during the game, the ship class names would now reflect names from the .txt files rather then the standard "Battle Axe," "

Can you set up default .txt files for your opponent ship names? For example, if I have a .txt file of battleship names, can I assign it to the Terran, Drengin, etc.? During the game, it would be neat to battle a Terran led "Enterprise" ship, or whatever.
