Hi! Game ver. 1.0x.1, 3 glitches: 1) I've built Galactic Privater, but it does not prevent my trade ships being attacked and destroyed. 2) Iconians just built a Starbase in the "square" next to my SB. 3) zoom with "+" and "-" on numeerc keyboard works with minimap. Main map doesn't follow. "+" and "-" on keyboard do zoom main map, but minimap doesn't change. By design or glitch? Savegame available. BR, Iztok

Hi! Planet management: The AI can't build decent planets. Way too few factories, so they are constantly underdeveloped. They put embassies on tiles with bonuses for research/manufacturing. I have yet to accidentally culturally conquer an enemy planet where I felt they had made a good job making the planet useful. Just finished my first large gam

Hi! On bigger maps, I agree, Military starbases lose some of their effectiveness except for last line defensive strategies (not that I have ever had to use them except against pirates) ... or the first line of attack strategy. I used them this way hree times in my current game, each time to take enemy's big production planets. 8-10 constructors

Hi! I came across a Drengin SMALL ship with 12 hps but 13 lasers, 0 missles and 3 mass driver stats. Thank god this wasn't a fleet of them. hehe Although I'm still trying to figure out how it got so much power on a SMALL hull. There weren't any military starbases around, so, no bonus there. Perhaps a tech I haven't seen yet

Hi! ...orbital terraformer... IMO just another useless "wonder". When I get to it, I usually have ALL available tiles already terraformed. If it would be like in GC1, where it gives about 10% increase in planet quality, (a new tile on every planet in GC2) it would be usefull. So I see it as a waste o

Hi! Remember that defense and attacks are a number rolled from 1- whatever it is you have It seems this is not entirely correct: weapons roll from 1 to their max, defenses roll from 0 to their max. Proof: attacks on the ship wihout defenses always do at least 1 damage, never 0. 1-point atacks on ship with 1-point defense do

Hi! I have some issues with the current system of production and spending. First of all, I need to tell, how I usually play. At the beginning of the game I put all money into production of colonizers. I usually buy the basic infrastructure - the first factory and a research facility. Here's the first problem: after I build my very first lab, it doesn't produce anything, because I'm spending 100% into shipbuilding. At the same time I'm buying factories, that ALSO don't produce an

Hi! Diplomacy is FAR TOO POWERFUL Hrm, I don't know what game you're playing, but in my current one (painful AI) their prices for exclusive tech are insanely high. For their latest missile tech (the first one with damage 3) I would have to give them about 20 of those I have the only one in the game: beam weapons 3, shields 3, armor 4, large hull

Hi! The current ship experience system is IMO flawed. It is so easy to get a fleet of ships to insanely high HPs just by repeatingly attacking 2-3 AIs' planets, that produce a defending ship each turn. In my current game I fielded medium hulls more than a year before the second AI did, and 've managed to get some of them from initiall 18 HPs up to 160 HPs and counting! IMO this is way too much. The experience gained should: take in account the numb

Hi! But the fighters are usually 2-3 speed at Intelligent and above The default hull speed without engines. I've been constantly able to win most battles with my ships with single (warp for most game) engine put on. The speed of 6 allowed me to dodge their ships/fleets, and pick only the battles I could win. And to very efficiently "rotate" dama

Hi! Then again, I gotta try that on a harder level It seems difficulty doesn't matter. I've played through the campaign on painfull or crippling, and got the same ending - just one transport was enough to end the game. IMO there's something broken with this last campaign mission. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Mad.gif"

Hi! The whole point of Siege was so that expert players would have a challenge and other players could go to the alternative missions. Huh?!? Now you tell me? <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-Quote-Tabl

Hi! When you come upon a minor civ, do you kill/take their planet or befriend them, and why? 2X : eXploit, eXterminate. Because they are there just for that, and if I don't do that, someone other will. BR, Iztok

Hi! In MOO2, I used to have this race that could develop a tech very quickly and get few offensive ships that cost a lot, but were superior for some time in the game. This way I could take out 2 or 3 capitals of other races before they caught up. There are IMO four problems with this approach here in GC2: 1) hard to develop so much better s

Hi! Read Niven's "Footfall".... all you have to do is throw big rocks Erm, on the receiving end was the Earth of our time, not the Earth 220 years in the future, with plethora of energy. Destroying those rocks would be just a matter of focusing that energy. I vote for yes, give us capability to prevent invasions and repell smaller a

Hi! in fact, NEVER has a race whom I'm beating the tar out of surrendered to me, always to someone else It happend to me in my first GC2 sandbox game (medium abundant, all players, painfull - full AI), and IIRC it was also the first time in ALL GC games I played. Arceans were my northern neighbour, but with only 3 planets quite weak to my

Hi! WHY ARE YOU GUYS STILL BUYING COLONY SHIPS? That's what newbies do :/ I can set my homeworld to build a fast colony ship every otehr turn after buying factories for the first 4 turns! Set spendign to 100% and 100% Military production. You will run at maybe -200 bc a turn but its way cheaper than buying the ships. Because with starting

Hi! I've played GC2 for some time now, without much chrashes. Despite having in-game movies installed (via un-archive with SDC) on hard drive, they didn't play. So I uninstalled the game, removed all traces of it from the disk (copied campaign savegames somewhere else), and reinstalled it with SDC from an archive from Feb 22 (preload archive). Install went OK, also the update to1.0X. When I ran the game, ALL its buttons (on Main menu, Options menu, ALL in-game buttons...) were without text!

Hi! Move the mouse cursor over the approval rate number in planet window, and you'll see how it is calculated. The easiest thing to keep your appoval high is to keep pop on a planet low, or to keep taxes low. However you'll get only a low amount of money as a result, as they both "generate" it. As a rule of thumb I leave pop on smaller planets at its first treshold: 5B. If the planet can build a farm AND a morale building, I consider building them to get more pop (10

Hi! I still suspect there's a bug in the "what AI can see" code. I had several ocassions when my scanner ships (cargo huil, engine, rest about 10 scanners) were sniped by the dreadLord's fighters BEFORE they even get to the front. And there was not ANY dreadLord's ship in vicinity to spot it, I had a 100% visual coverage on that frontline. Te fighter just went from the planet, avoided my fleet of 3 fregates that were providing cover for the rest of my ships (scanners, transports) and sniped
