Hi!
Is this site dead?
Totally. It's so dead even this replay doesn't exist. BR, Iztok

Hi!
CAN I PLAY FOREVER?
IIRC quite some time ago there was a player who tried to prove the game scoring method was wrong, that it keeps increasing scores with the passing game time. He has ran the game "forever" (for as long as he coud stand), but he reported he coudn't ran it over 212 or 220 game years. IIRC Brad confirmed that hard limit. I haven't seen any notice about this issue since, so that hard limit may still
Hi!
what are good values for a immense map with 9 ai opponents?
I'm affraid there's no true answer to your question, because it too much depends on how many planetary invasions you still see as fun instead of a grind. In DA the largest all-abundant galaxy I tried was large, and it already felt more grind than fun. You know, taking 5 planets was fun, repeating that 150 times was not fun anymore.
If there are more things I should kno
Hi!
Those numbers are straight from the ultimate edition manual page 20 under AI intelligence.
Game manuals for GalCiv were proven wrong many times. Have you checked that with the game? It's quite easy: run game in cheat mode, start a new game with ultimate AI, play for Krynn (if they still get a free spy at the start of the game), reveal map and check with the spy what theoretical production AI planets have. Now ju
Hi!
Need to learn to pay attention to your options then. When starting a new game, bottom Right hand Box, Random events lets you set the frequency, one of those options is Off. Not hard you know.
Umm, there must be something wrong with my eyes, because I can't see that Random Events Box neither in my DL nor in my DA game. Strange. Probably I'll have to see the oculist. [e digicons][/e] BR, Iztok
Hi!
And he said hes using Ultimate Edition which is TA edition by default...
That's why I wrote "Could be valid for TA". But you have posted hard numbers, that are very off the "standard" values in DL and DA. Have you checked validity of those numbers with the game, or with developers' jurnals? BR, Iztok
Hi!
Or instead of bitching about a random event you can just turn them off.
AFAIK you can turn off only mega events, which precursor ships aren't. Also AFAIK they "become available" only after 5 game-years have passed, and if game "decides" you're not doing well. If my memory serves me well I got them (actually it) in only one game of all I've played. BR, Iztok
Hi!
Gifted-5% boost Genius- 10% boost Incredible- 25% boost Godlike 50% boost Ultimate 100% boost
Could be valid for TA, but in DL and DA AI gets significantly more. You can check wiiki for how much. BR, Iztok
Hi!
middle map, rare start/planets/habitable and a slow tech speed i failed miserably due to economic nose diving
Yeah, all-labs does that, esp. if you have labs on bonus tiles. The catch to survive this is in obtaining other sources of money. With all-labs you should have plenty of techs to sell. With your "rare everything" game the trade could be another source, because the fewer the habitable planets, the more trade becomes importan
Hi!
Master of Orion 2 Memories
For me the MoO-1 is still better. It doesn't require so much hassle with planets, and (because of the random tech availability) there's no optimal tech path to victory. To emulate that in MoO-2, in the last couple of years I usually played races with "uncreative" trait. Just that makes MoO-2 game significantly more replayable. Tanks Steve Barcia I can still extort unavailable techs from other races. ;)
Hi!
Does the computer play by different rules?
On normal difficulty level it shouldn't. The situaton you're describing can be the result of many quite probable scenarios: Krynn simply having more/better planets than you have, Krynn having taken most galactic resources (or at least econ and morale ones) or you started the game with randomized inteligence checked, and Krynn got significantly better "inteligence" (and bo
Hi!
Using multiple weapon types?
OFC you can use them, but the main problem I see with that is not the damage, but availability. In my games I was rarely able to research two weapons branches simultaneously. Usually it was better to invest resources into one branch, obtaining one strong weapon instead of two mediocre ones. OTOH mixing non-maxed-out weapon types in one ship is IMO not a good idea. Since GalCiv-2 does not limit you with
Hi! IIRC you still need to research all previous research buildings. BR, Iztok
Hi!
"File That You Can't Delete.haha "
That's why command prompt is still usefull. Within it you can delete any file, but you need to use its "short" name. You get "short" names of files in a particular folder if you type in it dir /x . In your case you'd probably delete it by typing del FILETH~1.HAH . BTW, you can start calling your brother " script kiddie ". BR,&
Hi! From the wiki https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Ship_combat , paragraph "DA combat changes" the strongest ship is sqrt( ( 2 * Attack ) + Defense + ( Current HP / 2 ) ) . BR, Iztok
Hi!
I have not found creativity to do much in DA.
Because it doesn't. It randomly adds a small amount of research points to the item you're researching. Nett effect is a few percent boost to the research speed. Not worth the points spent. BR, Iztok
Hi!
building nothing but Factories and Colony Ships and I still couldn't keep up to the Thalans. That's not my idea of strategy, that's just pursuing a narrow minded path and hoping you get lucky with the planets you colonize.
Umm, GalCiv is a 4x game. Grabbing as much "teritory" ASAP is the second X: eXpand, and gives a player the strongest start to win. OFC you can always try other approaches, at least at
Hi! In short: Drengin got the upper hand in the wars that ragged in original game, and are conquering the remaining races, but by the influence of Dread Lords got split into two clans. "Regular" Drengin still want just to rule enslaved galaxy, but Korath want to exterminate all sentient life, so a civil war breaks out. Drengin are even forced to seek allies, because Korath, supported by Dread Lords, are so strong. BR, Iztok
Hi!
A bug is a bug. Should be fixed, yes?
Technically it's NOT a bug. A bug makes game unplayable (it crashes, freezes,...). A glitch makes game behave differently as intended and affects gameplay. But this one... I'd say those few additional hitpoints are remains of a scaffolding the repair yard forgot to move away, when the ship was rushed back to active duty. [e digicons][/e] BR, Iztok
Hi!
They going to fix this? Seems unfair.
Unfair? Such a minor thing you can't control? Sigh... [e digicons][/e] BR, Iztok
Hi!
but didn't say anything about using "nad" as a conjunction?
Bad reviewer, bad. ;) BR, Iztok
Hi!
So this may be a stupid question, but why exactly is repulsion so OP?
You need to get close to opponent's ships to destroy them, but repulse pushes your ships away. If you want to retreat, you need to move to the edge of the grav well, but repulse pushes your ships away. You barely avoid opponent's mines, but repulse pushes you back into them. Etc... And, like other posters here already mentioned, there's no real counter to it. BR,
Hi!
Flak wipe fighters not even worth trying to use fighters.
Yes, but usually opponnent's flak is protecting his illums and can't also protect bombers. If Thepiemaster would set fighter to close area defense (not the whole grav well), they should destroy opponent's attacking bombers. BR, Iztok
Hi!
I saw that there is a thread for Gal Civ 3
That thread is user-made collection of wishes. Devs probably look at it, but noone can tell what ideas they'll take into GalCiv-3. IIRC in GC-3 the econ nad production model will be reworked. But to what... [e digicons]:S[/e] BR, Iztok
Hi!
I tried a ton of Garda's but they couldn't take down the bombers fast enough.
You need to attack bombers with fighters - they're designed for that task (they do 200% damage to light armor bombers have). Gardas are excellent for taking out fighters (200% damage), but they do just 100% damage to bombers. Against repulse there isn's much you can do. It's considered quite overpowered. You can try to hit the guardian with your cobalt
