Reply to GalCiv 3 Retribution: Game freezes after few seconds in Galactic Civilizations Series Stardock Forums

I have finally able to solve the problem...my external USB soundcard (komplete audio 6) caused the problem (altough I recently updated the driver). Switching the audio output device to another device fixed the freezing issues.

Hi, I bought Galactic Civilization 3 on Steam yesterday...but it freezes after a few seconds of playing the game. The freeze is not triggered by a specific action, but seems to happen after random period ( After the freeze the game music stops playing...the mouse pointer is still visible and does move, but it is not possible to click on any menu (there is absolutely no response).
