Twilight of the Arnor is really enjoyable in Galactic Civilizations II GalCiv2 Forums

I have been a fan of Galactic Civilizations since I first played it on OS/2 many years ago. But I must say that Twilight of the Arnor is the best yet. The introduction of the new espionage system turned me off playing completely but in ToA the update has made the game enjoyable for me again. Looking at the metaverse I see that my first game of Galciv II was posted the 14th of March 2006 and my last today on the 23rd of December 2008. I can't think of any other game besides Civ

Balancing the US federal budget in Politics JoeUser Forums

In the business press the american federal deficit is usually discussed. However, I have never seen a good analysis of how balancing the budget will affect the US domestic economy as well as the global economy. My gut feeling is tellling me that it is going to be bad but I admit to being clueless on the subject. Such overspending during the last few good years is a bit astounding to me. How bad do you think the effects are going to be?

Good work, I have far to go to reach your numbers! I try to donate blood here in Sweden too but the restrictions are difficult. I like to travel and travelling to less developed countries in South America and in Asia results in a 6 months incubation period. Last year I was really surprised to not be allowed to donate blood when I had been to the US for a week! There seemed to be a one-month incubation period for us Swedish blood donors if we travel to the US. Strange. :-)

Some kind of error with ObjectDock Plus in Impulse in ObjectDock WinCustomize Forums

I have only one item available under "My Desktop" in Impulse, i.e. "ObjectDock Plus". That is all fine and well, however there is a yellow exclamation point image on the "ObjectDock Plus" image. When I hover with the mouse pointer over the image I get no additional information. (is there a a way to upload images here? The "Insert Image"-button seems to only work with links with URL:s .) I performed the option of verifying the installation and I got an error mess

So far I have only visited the US for two weeks in total, unfortunately only for work. The company I work for has a branch office in the US as well as a couple of production facilities but the only facility I visited was in Richmond, Virginia. Thank you for the tip! I turns out that it was either Pidgin or Object Dock that was causing the slowdowns. Pidgin I could just minimize but OD Plus I had to turn off while playing. But that doesn't matter much as long as I can play.

Performance in windowed mode in Galactic Civilizations II GalCiv2 Forums

I get really low performance running in windowed mode. Are there any pointers as to what settings could be tweaked to get better performance? In full screen mode, everything works perfectly with all the bells & whistles running at 1600x1050 but in windowed mode it is barely usable.

Can't alliance in DA 1.80a in Bug Reports GalCiv2 Forums

For some reason I can't seem to create alliances in 1.80a. I might have a cold and my brain full of sn*t but shouldn't it be enough to have the Alliance technology and being close with the race you want to ally with? I have the Alliance tech and when I entere the Diplomacy screen for any of the races which I am close with, the Alliance option never appears.

I have submitted several crash reports where the game crashes when I try to save. I have included a save game which is the latest one I could save, after that - boom. I submitted the reports while running beta 1 but I get the same behaviour in beta 2. So the problem seems to remain.

Wow, I have always had a weakness for red Porches and I have always wanted to test drive one. I am looking forward to you writing about your experiences! The Porsche has a back wheel drive (not certain what the name is in English, what I mean is that the engine drives the back tires instead of the front tires or all four), doesn't it? That must be an even more interesting experience! Watch the bends, I want to be able to play Galciv3 one day.

Version 1.7 Crashes when loading savegame in Beta Reports GalCiv2 Forums

I was playing the latest 1.7 beta and enjoying myself when it suddenly crashed. After the crash I was able to reload and continue but after yet another crash DA crashes upon each load of the save game. I have submitted the required files from SmartException. Otherwise the game was playing like it used to be, IMO. But I would really like to continue my game, things were tensing up and all races seemed quite equal.

I have used JKDefrag for a time and I am happy with the results. Seems to give an additional boost over using the builtin defrag in XP. Not that I have any hard facts to prove that, but at least I imagine that the system feels a little more responsive.
