WC is the only one I use, I still have a weird issue with avg running my cpu to 100% in the Stardock forums,so I can't spend any time there. NBD. Impulse is looking good,just never anybody in the forums.IE7 mostly, but I'm trying FF3 b5 and it is FAST.

I hope this is the right thread to post this: 2 or three days ago I downloaded My Colors from Impulse but after install all I got was Aero restore,not knowing at the time that Quest came with it.Thinking a purchase was required for any themes, I uninstalled My Colors.(I'm not cheap,just unemployed,lol) Anyway, today I was cleaning up and in Program Files/Stardock/My Colors I found a folder named ERROR containing an empty folder,a config.file and the wallpaper I had on at the time of install. I had one of those entries,don't remember which ,over three weeks ago. The other four I got after installing SP1 .I've only had AVG since 1/15 so I'm not sure but I think it's more of a notification than an alert. I know my system is clean. Sorry I couldn't reply sooner but someone unplugged the forums soon after I saw your post. Murphy's law will prevail.Ive cleared cookies with IE7 tools,SuperAnti-spy and ccleaner as well,deleted IE temp files, deep scanned for spyware and viruses,nothing helped. Odd thing is I can go to the forums at WC or Impulse and everything is normal. Just went and checked. Now Wizard1956 is appearing as signed in and no ads. I only saw them in the forums anyway and I can't go there. Still 100% CPU as soon as I access the forums. Vista Home Basic w/SP1, been using AVG free w/no problems. This HP was new 11/21/07. I'm not only getting ads at SDC. The status bar says I'm logged in, My WB6 is registered as is my WC sub. However, it still says I am a guest,which would explain the ads. I only use SDC for updates anyway,so I can tough it out 'til Impulse is ready, which sounds like a major step forward. I get lost at SDC to easily,anyway.lol X-(

The problem was present long before SP1 so I've ruled that out. No crashes since my last post,then this. Nothing but Sidebar,WB6, IE7 and Yahoo! messenger running at the time. Crashed when switching between windows. It's not bogging down,it just quits. Cpu and mem are both well below 50%,and it restarts every time without closing any windows (insert smiley of me scratching head) and life goes on. A System Restore and a System Recovery are two separate actions. A recovery reformats and re-installs all originally installed programs. (And can be done on an HP from the boot menu without a disc. "F11" - if you haven't deleted the partition) and you must re-load your backed up data. A restore rolls back your system to a prior point in time. After several days of testing I've decided to add windows sidebar to my "don't use" list,along with the WC Browser and TM. I can't take the chance of permanent damage.If I had the money or the time maybe I could do more with this cheap-assed computer,but caring for a family member 24/7 after his stroke leaves my wife and I with little of either.I was looking for answers and all I got were more questions.There's no help here. So far today windows explorer has quit at 10:00am while checking my 2 mailboxes,11:00-6:20pm played with grand son on a site that is all adobe powered (flash and shockwave) with no problems. came back to start menu at 6:21 ,expl.quit, changed WB's at 6:31 expl.quit,switched between windows at 6:34 expl.quit. sorry I couldn't reply sooner but yes so far without the side bar running I have had 0 explorer crashes and my 5 year old grandson and I have been on it all day. Spongebob! This is with no object dock, WC Select WB,exp. backgrounds on with 40% transparency. I'll use side bar tomorrow all day and compare notes. btw while my 'net was down I checked a couple things. An update: Shut down Object Dock at 5:20. At5;30 pm, local 'net went down for an hour. Didn't get to try much til 10;30pm At 11;57 Explorer quit under same conditions as before but with no object dock. Three minutes later, same thing, same way but I also had Java running.At 11;20 pm I turned the [B]Sidebar [/B]OFF and no OD. You can apply the theme then go to windowblind config and under skin options select "rebuild list" and the windowblind and wallpaper will stay in the windowblind list and can be applied using WB. Did it with all my themes, works great,try it out.If all you have is WB it's actually much faster to apply and remove.
