Alternately, please explain how the game decides which planet to make your Capital once your original Capital is captured? If it's a method that the player can influence in someway by assigning, say, a certain Leader or building a certain building, that allows the player to influence the Next Capital list...

Hi folks. Running Galactic Civilizations I Ultimate Edition on Windows 11. Every damn time I start up, I get a User Account Control message that this app "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Galactic Civilizations I - Ultimate Edition\AltarianProphecy" is trying to make changes. I say Yes to let the game run. Is there any way to stop this from happening? I tried setting up a Scheduled Task, but that didn't make any difference. Thanks. </

A lot of folk would like exploit amped up so they could be underhand with the AI. However, if the AI was to be underhanded with them, which of course Stardock would implement as, hey, only fair, right? Queue Forum Rage "The AI Is A Cheating XXXX, Stardock!"

Is SetaX under the illusion he joined a Founders Edition group? The thing you guys ran that left us with the thrill of seeing our name in the Credits for GalCiv3 (The scroll - and it's a biggie - is on Youtube!) for our suggestions and ideas and patience and for all that, we'd get the Base Games and DLCs and Expansions included in the USD$99.00 we paid when we signed up to be a Founder? I knew when I joined GalCiv4 you weren't running a Founders Edition so when I paid whatever USD$, I

Gaming forums the world over were today, in one foul swoop, taken over by ChatGPT. Owners of these forums, such as Stardock, said to media "We noticed something was fishy when users suddenly had good ideas and stopped complaining. It was very disconcerting and uncomfortable for us as it was so different to how our forums normally work with all the moaning, griefing and stupid ideas." Do like the idea of drag-and-click if it can be done.

Not sure how I gave Draver 4 Karmas, because while his idea is a good one, it's not that good, Draver! :) Even if I do concur with your conquering mechanic. Siege sounds like a good half-way point between the "You have to Conquer every Colony as well as every Core World" and "Conquer a Core World and it's Colonies Come For Free! And Instantly! Conquer Core Worlds Now As Colonies Are Standing By To Be Your Slaves!" mechanics. You position shi

Like the food icon next to a world where food production is dominant? This may make it easier to target different worlds for their resources, and also make it easier to remember which one is your food basket and which one has all the nerds living on it! Of course, the AI will need

If you're talking Factions, that's obviously a whole different kettle of fish as you're talking about Minor parts of a Race, obviously. Is there at present any tension between Factions of the same Race? A situation where the Warforged suddenly rise up and kill the Natural League? Could one leader in the Warforged do away with another in the Warforged? Civil War, basically...

My view on this hasn't changed since Stardock upset some people by bringing the Crusade DLC to GalCiv3: If you're going to have Minor Races, don't do it the old way where Minor Race sits and drools on it's Class 16 planet, never expands, gives you whatever you want and when you get sick of them, doesn't put up a fight and dies. Give some abilities/skills/resources only to Minor Races and, obviously, make them un-tradeable. If that Minor Race dies, that ability/resourc

I like this idea but I think it should only be an option that a Race who've acheived a certain diplomatic standing (ie at least been nuetral to both parties in the war) can access - if I'm the Terran and the Torians offer me something to make peace with the Drengin, who I know they're very diplomatically matey with, I'm saying NO SIR! Alternately, you could make Peacemaker an option for more benevolent Races and Diplomatic Heavy an option for more evil Races, two options that acheive

I think valkdrvr's got a good point, there! You might have conquered all the Torian planets, but you've not killed every Torian leader and citizen in the galaxy. So if you, say, go to war with the Drengin and get a Torian citizen, that Torian citizen will not be a good Citizen/Leader for your race because They. Hate. You. At which point you show them this fancy new airlock that you've just had painted and renovated and doesn't it look neat and, oh, yeah, the

Simple solution: Kill off the Ship Designer. And the Civilization Designer. Admittedly, I never use the Ship Designer (I did in GalCiv II but got bored with it and haven't in III or IV) and have spent less than half an hour ever on the Civilization Designer so it's not a concern for me if those are killed off but: I think this was always going to be a risk - Person A spending literally hours creating a ship/fleet in the SD and putting it on the Steam Workshop and then

I'd like to see starting techs being determined by things like what type of race you are and what abilities and traits you have. So the Drengin and like-minded folk would be able to research weaponry, war-stuff basically sooner than the Terran, who aren't that bloodthirsty. The way I see it working, that makes what you can research easiest/quickest in any given game determined by what you choose in the start-up in terms of race, traits and abilities. That for me would make it

I always said, once Stardock decided on the Ship Designer (A choice I personally wouldn't have made if I was in Stardock running GalCiv, but anyhoo), it was completely logical and frankly fair to make Combat pretty graphical so those of us who spent hours designing their ships could actually see how their design/defence/offence choices affected the aforementioned combat. I guess if Stardock is going to allow designs of Transports and maybe even more planning about Invasions, etc, mayb

To me, the idea that approval from colonies is no longer important makes sense. What are your colonies going to do, if they don't like their Core World which they're tied to? They're basically slaves, meant to work for their Core World. If they don't like it, too bad. I accept that Stardock need to remove all discussion of "Colony Approval" if that's the case - Colonists are just slaves, so who cares if they don't like the atmosphere on ZiggyLoveXI?! If that's

I'm guessing when you owned the planet it wasn't a Core? That's why those pesky pirates didn't need a Transport to take it from you, I presume (if they can build transports, I have no idea). And didn't have a Transport to take it from the Mimot. Clever Mimots AI for changing it's status BTW if that's what happened. There's been some discussion about the word Colony being used to describe non-Core planets. Apparantly it's regarded by Stardock as basically an Outpost (guarded by

But surely, SDF-7, you felt the same way at the beginning of your online relationships with Stardock and Steam that you - apparantly - feel now about Epic? I get that loading Epic, etc is for some people a leap of faith given the risks of targeted marketing, etc etc (disclaimer: I don't really care about targetted advertising/emails etc. It's not like I'm actually buying what they're selling. I praise the Delete function.), but to be fair to Epic and other companies,

If I'm the devs I'd simply observe that it's not compulsory to have the Mimots in your game. In fact, having the Mimots in your game may well ruin the "immersion", RNG and "win the way you want" aspect of 4X a fair bit. Sure, you can have the Mimots in your game and play in a "Beat My Record for Turns Survived Against The Seriously OP Mimot" way (my basic play-style - "Yay Me! Took 250 Turns To Die!" :)), but it you want to win and don't want to play as the Mimot, exclude th
