I just got a new home PC. I installed GalCiv2 from the CD's I bought a while back. I'd like to download the latest patch (but not the expansion - yet), and install it. I have dial-up at home, so I'd rather not download it there. Is there a way to get the patch downloaded to my laptop at work and then take it home and install it on my home PC? Thanks...

I'm still a little new at this game, but I've noticed that whenever I go to war and start successfully invading alien planets, the AI always surrenders before I can conquer their last planet (or two). Basically, once they're undeniably beaten, they give their planets to another AI. The only AI player that has fought "to the death" has been the Altarians. Is this normal? It's kind of annoying, but at the same time, I see the logic in it. If you're crushing one civ, it makes
You feel cheated because your net connection is crap? Like Kryo said, try a different server, and don't blame your PCs shortcomings on the company. My downloads with stardock are well over 600k/s. See, this is the kind of post that ticks me off. We have a frustrated new user in the community. Instead of trying to help him out in a cons
Performance. The game has to run on older video cards, and that's not going to happen if you've got 2048x2048 textures on every object on the screen... Thank you. I enjoy playing GalCiv2 on my laptop. I need it to be able to run on a weaker video card. I think the game can be rich and detailed without requiring high-powere
I would love to see Pitboss multiplayer for this game. Although, honestly, I'd like a LAN function as well. I can do more gaming when I'm able to play online at home with my wife.
I will be 32 in four days.
Here in Northern California, prices range from $3.01 to $3.20
Let me know when you have a Death Star mod that can blow up planets.
Perhaps the AI already has the ability to see the entire map, and thus doesn't need sensors.
Umm... unless "stealing an electric wheelchair from an old person" is an option for you, I really don't see how you're going to build a go-kart with a pile of wood, twenty dollars, and no metal...
Bah. I don't play console games anymore.

I'm thinking that there's also a lot of dedicated fans here who would participate even if MP isn't a big priority for them. The community here seems pretty loyal and enthusiastic about the growth of this franchise.
Is this storyline going to be continued? Also, it would be a lot easier to read if it were compiled in a single thread, or perhaps made into a single .doc or .pdf file.
Scott, as the devs have said several times, resources are limited. They have asked their customers what they want prioritised, and MP wasn't even second on the list. You're asking them to burn off the customers who have paid in favour of those who might pay. If you want MP so bad, why not set up a web-page with a paypal pledge account. Have everyone who wants MP ple
Being the last of the good Mithrilar, I Mascrinthus, know the truth. If you read the dev journals you can piece together the truth. At the end of the GalCivII campaign, DL Bradley travels to the Dread Lord's pocket universe. Over time he learns all their secrets and more. He becomes as powerful as the Mithrilar and escapes from the pocket universe into the d
I've done a little searching around to see if there's been any explaination on the Altarian - Human connection, and haven't found anything. Has it been explained at any point?
Thanks... I went through the whole video driver drill when I put Civ4 on this machine. It's an IBM ThinkPad T42. Ati Radeon Mobility 7500 video. The game works as long as I *don't* try to run in windowed mode. Otherwise, it's goofed up, and when I switch back (even via manual .ini file edit), it remains goofed up. Only deleting the .ini file seems to resolve the issue.
Jesus Christ, how many times has it been said in this thread alone? Here, I'll type in real big letters for you: THERE ARE LIMITED RESOURCES AVAILABLE. STARDOCK HAS ASKED IT'S CUSTOMERS WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE AND MULTIPLAYER WAS NOT THE WINNER. IT IS UNFAIR FOR THE MINORITY TO ASK FOR FEATURES AT THE EXPENSE OF THE MAJORITY. it's not that SD HATE multiplayer, i
I had errors trying to upload pics using Firefox, but when I browse the site with IE, it seems to work better.
Like I said, I think I got CivIV on sale (GoGamer.com is good like that), and while I'm not going to argue the list price with you, I'll say this much - saavy shoppers get any game cheaper. I bought GalCiv2 - Collector's Edition at Wal-Mart for the same price as the regular version. You're missing most of my point, though. The multiplayer addition would pay for itself.
Actually, these forums work better in IE than they do in FireFox. I have the scriptblocker plugin set to allow the domain, but for some reason, the photo upload feature doesn't work at all in FireFox. Works fine in IE. I'd rather surf the site with FireFox, but I think the heavy javascript scares it.
Nooooo!!!!!!! (Dives in front of Frogboy's keyboard, saving the world from a combo expansion pack, yet at the horrible cost of a severe rib poking.) Seriously though, I'm not sure how you can say the SP crowd would be 'satisfied' with one or two SP features, while most of our money funds the MP hobby. I say split them, and we can see from the number of sales
Smartest thing you could do there. Sadly, their themed desktop is buggy as all hell. I don't remember what specific program it goobered up of mine, but every time I would mouse over the menu for it, it would shrink the window and do something else crazy. Ahhh, zmud I think. Anyhoo, I just removed it. It was nice eye-candy but if it is going to mess up other apps it
It's this simple: a vocal minority keeps whining and insulting those who won't give them their own way at the expense of the majority. So now, pretty much everyone else is sick to death of the topic. I dunno... they're vocal, but I'm not sure they're really so much a minority. I've only been here a week since buying the game, and I've seen
