Quoting Demiansky, reply 12 If only Stardock had actually made a sequal to Master of Magic rather than dart off into uncharted territory. I think ELemental would be in much better shape if they had stuck to more of the core elements of the classic. Disagree 100%. I already have MoM - don't need another one. http://koti.mbnet.fi/ton_hur/files/mom/ Unofficial MOM patch ftw it's not made by the guy that ran the website, it's done by kyrub who made the unofficial MOO patch, the thing is the the forums are down for some reason on where kryub orifinally hosted the patch (check the readme for details). <a href="http://www.dragonsword.com/forum/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=5&postdays=0&postord

Ok I've been running Elemental now (over 7 hours) with the "IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE" header and it works just fine and I got about 10-15 more FPS out of it. Basically this command tells a 32-bit program it can use up to 3gb of memory instead of just 2gb. This all originated from a fix with supremecommander and was later done for Empire total war. I use the old program that was meant for Empire (I didn't make it- look
it's a memory leak, and a rather large one. takes up 6 gb of ram/swap after about an hour of play I even have problems with that and performance and I'm on a similar i7 with 8GB of RAM As a 32bit program, Elemental can only use up to 2GB regardless how much RAM you have. Please direct performance discussions to the main thread on the subject here.
</

hehe It's 3AM and I only stopped to eat and post but after that I'll be sucked back in, luckily I got a long weekend ahead of me starting tomorrow since I asked for time off from work weeks in advance for this game.

Currently the system is a nice idea but what if I have a city that doesn't really produce Gildar, Arcane, or world knowledge? It basically leaves me with the option of rolling the dice to see what guardian I get (yay wolves with 4/4 hp....). Here are some suggestinos to make city level ups a bigger deal and more meaningful. - Boost to materials percentage wise -Boost to population growth -XP bonus or level up a hero or troops
Same as Gal Civ 2, designing is more of a customization feature than changing actual gameplay.
I beg to differ there in Galciv2 you had to worry about 3 types of weapons and 3 types of defences. You also had to balance out versatility (range, sensors, armor, group effect). It's much more fleshed out but it was worked on for 3 years (if you include the expansions). Ri

Maybe make weapon types like slashing and piercing be more obvious wouldn't hurt either. As far as I can tell there are 3 damage types in the game, blunt, slashing and piercing. These damage types need to be more distinct with obvious strengths and weakness. From what it seems right now the big difference are Blunt - does the most damage, slowest Slashing- does medium damage, quickest Piercing - does least amount of damage but b

Most think the Heroes are a little underwhelming right now and I tend to agree(unless you use exploits with rings and amulets). Just to be clear this is mainly referring to combat heroes, not management heroes. Here's some ideas on how the Heroes can be made a little bit more useful. The heroes usually come badly equipped and are unrealistically less powerful then some the monsters sometimes. If the hero could survive in the wilds, surely that

One thing I would like to know is when a squad of units are fighting, does the attack just roll 1 number (max attack of all the group) or does it roll an attack for every person in that group against random people from the other group. If it isn't rolling individual attack vs individual defence then that might explain why all the army techs are a little OP. IF there is a way to add a single unit or make a single units into a squad, I havent se

Yeah I know there's that tech but it's also very clear the Adventurers aren't doing their jobs. It's like all of them are noobs standing around near towns asking how to do quest rather then doing the house keeping and cleaning up the baddies. It would be nice if I could just right click on a band of monsters and issue a quest with a reward to NPC heroes like "kill this dragon, and I'll give you this sword + loot" and then the adventurers compete against
Nova, that will be a bit too complicated to implement in Elemental, I think.
Actually it's too complex for most games which is why no one has done it. I like to think game developers have a ton a great ideas for games but are mostly limited by time and tech so maybe only a good 50% of their ideas ever make it into a game.

Here's a thought, Why not have the adventurer tech also spawn better Adventurer parties to help clean up all the freaking monsters. It allows us the ability to recruit late game heroes and it gets rid of the insane amount of monsters. It would essentially be 2 neutral factions (Adventurers vs Monsters) always duking it out with eachother in random places. I remember hearing that the adventur
The nesting of the tags is clearly mis-used. is misplaced. The item is bugged. Stay away for now.
Yup I'm thinking it shows up when it's not suppose to and of course has no effect until you research the proper tech, then the +3 damage is added but yeah for the most part don't add it unless you see a stat boost.

Yeah it does seem like this was a hectic week even from the fan perspective of things (like waiting for things to get uploaded and what not). I got the game and it's fun to play. You guys do what you did with Galciv2 and keep improving it and there will be no giant rant threads by me (maybe some nitpicking but no ranting).

Well a ruling council and world favor would go a long way into creating a more diplo game. Something along the lines of the UN where votes are brough on by members and sanctions given or declerations of war. Nations could also leave/walk out of it or even threaten to for leverage. Unlike Moo though it shouldn't be a victory if you get elected to the seat of power but instead you make policy and if the AI nations don't agree they leave the union. Makes you have to

I made a couple of a goof sovereigns these past couple of days, thought I'd share a couple (some are actually kinda fun to roleplay). and yes I renamed Janusk to Torgo. Had fun playing him before the day0 patch came out. He starts with a weapon and soldiers so he's good at mixing it up early. Now I'm playing as [IMG]http://img.ph

The other thing stopping heroes from really questing is some of the creeps are too damn powerful, sure I understand drakes and golems but an army of freaking spiders? I mean didn't Bilbo kill like dozens of them in the hobbit single handidly? It's just annoying that the creeps are sometimes more powerful then nations. Maybe make the more powerful creeps guard important items and have bandits/wolves/spiders roam the country side. That way a lone hero or
For me, the comment on the weakness of champions highlights my biggest gripe. What makes this game different from other TBS games is the heroes. I really really want to play it like a strategy/RPG hybrid, leveling up my heroes so they become unstoppable, but this game is simply not balanced this way. lols at your leader I still say a good deal of the AI problems is it's pathfinding or priorities when it moves around cause I can understand this tactic working after you conquered some cities but the first AI should never have allowed this and the other AI should have united against you at a certain point. The big problem I find is that even if the AI declares war on you, unless he's right next to you, there's no way you're seeing any of his units s
I didn't mean to imply you're a warmonger, I felt that I was under a bit of flaming and I was merely trying to defend myself a bit. Sorry.
I didn't take any offence at being called a warmonger so no need for apologies, it's just that my play style rarely has me starting wars but I sure as hell finish them. It sounds to me like you need to re-evvaluate
