Wow. It worked. I almost can't believe it worked. Thanks a lot! [e digicons][/e]
Some Guy
So I thought to myself, "I know! I'll update Sins of a Solar Empire to whatever patch they've created." I couldn't find the update, so I cruised around the forums looking for clues. I get the feeling that if you don't have the game installed on the computer using the internet, you can't get the update. Question: Is there a way to retrieve the update, move the update to my computer that doesn't use the internet, and install the update?
Trying to make sense of this thread... So there's a guy saying that Z-movement doesn't really exist, and there's a bunch of people saying that it really does exist. Hmm... I guess I'll just have to buy the game in a few weeks and find out for myself.
Wow. This post has gotten a lot of attention. I thought I'd throw my two cents in, too.
Wow. .... This is such a good idea, I'm not sure why no one had thought of it sooner. Maybe someone did think of it, they just didn't implement it.
I've only seen the "we know what you're doing" if I'm trying to get another player's planet to flip sides, usually by using influence starbases. That's my two cents worth.
Did I mis-spell anything?
The thing that bugs me is the word "there." I see it all the time. Half the time the poster meant "they're," a quarter of the time he/she meant "their"(did I spell that right?), and the other quarter of the time he/she actually meant "there." I'm not quite sure it matters in such an informal place as these forums, though. However, I do point the errors out if I'm proof reading a paper for some class. As far as I know, teachers hate that. There, their, they're. To, Two, too. A lot. then, than. <b
Oh gosh. Are people arguing about the invasion realism thing again?
I believe the point of the game is to have fun. Building empires, crushing opposition, and ruling the galaxy is fun to me.
how am I supposed to figure out that I lack support for a damn font??? Extensive research. Really, I'm not joking. When I bought this game, my computer was running a 128 MB Graphics card. The game didn't work very well and I thought, "What gives? The GC2 box says 32 MB and this card is 128 MB. Why is it not working well?" So I did some research a
An epic generator. That's just wow. Whoever thought that up is brilliant. I'm very interested in seeing what the finished product will look like. Good luck to all working on that thing.
The only real-time 4X game I ever played and heard of was Pax Imperia way back in 1994 and 1997. I always wondered why no one had tried to make a real-time 4X game, and I am excited to hear that someone is finally doing it. To answer the original question, I definitely prefer real-time 4X over turn based strategy. Real time in Pax Imperia wasn't a click fest or fast paced like other games cited here (C&C and some others whose titles I can't quite recall). The "real time" component to th
Actually, I still see GalCiv/Altarian Prophecy boxes in stores. It's kindof cool. Maybe the stores are just waiting for people to buy them.
I'm not really big on buying things over the internet. I prefer walking into a store, looking around, not seeing what I'm looking for, returning again the nest week, finding the item, and paying cash for it. Actually, when I put it that way, it doesn't seem as good anymore, but that's what I prefer
Strange, the AI seems to roll over when I offer weapons, even weak weapons.
I wonder what those battles look like in the battle viewer.
Did someone say 600 dollars for a PS3?? I wouldn't pay that much for a lot of things. I'd be better off taking 600 dollars and putting into my college fund. I think I'll be content with my Nintendo system. 600 dollars??? I still can't get over that.
If I'm fortunate, I'll have some planets in close proximity to each other. Build up the planets, then place economic starbases around them. With a few good economic starbases, It's possible to double the output of a given planet or two. Personally, I find it to be a little time consuming, but it's worth it. After building economic bases, I'll build some military bases to defend my frontier planets. If (When) anyone declares war, they will have to send their ships through my military starbas
(for those who wonder, I am the Yor!) That would explain the well set up troop transports. I had never seen the AI do anything like that before.
and then there is "they're" as in "they are". Darned homonyms!
Wow. Thank you to everyone that added to this thing. I really do appreciate the input and knowledge Finally, I feel like I'm learning something!
Bump?
I've been trying to figure these things for quite some time now, and I've gotten a little more than nowhere. When I try searching the internet for information, I end up finding people trying to sell me things. I've seen smart people that know far more than me comment in these forums, so I figured someone might be able to help me. Here's my issue: So I go out to buy a game, like Galactic Civilizations II for instance. There's a set of minimum requirements and recomended requirements.
I remember in the first galactic civilizations, a similar thing happened to me. The problem was that I went so far into debt that I couldn't spend money on anything, including ship construction.
