beardy, I apologize for the delay. Unfortunately, I cannot determine why it isn't working. I'm afraid all we can do for you is process a refund. Please contact [email protected] and they'll be able to help you with that. Thanks for sticking in there with us.

In the prefs.ini file mentioned above look for this line (below) and change it to =0. This may help you get into the game easier as well. MapIconOnlyMode=0

It could be overheating issues. Do you have any other CPU or GPU-intensive programs running while you play the game? If you have any performance monitor programs that show you CPU or GPU temperature, you may want to check them while you run the game, and check to see if they have any "shutdown" functions. Some programs will shut down the computer if it runs too hot (above a specified threshold usually). Do your fans get louder when you play the game? If so, you

Dear braxus6352, I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with running the game. Is this debug.err file from when you had the simple icon mode running? If not, please run the game with simple icon mode and post the debug.err from that. I see an error message here that shouldn't be there if it's in simple icon mode. If simple icon mode is also crashing, I will need to see the debug.err from when you ran the game in simple icon mode

dizzy0247, Please open your prefs.ini file in Notepad. This file can be found in /my documents/my games/polmachine2008/ Find the following line: Multisample=4 You may have a different number, but change it so that it says: Multisample=0 Then find this line: MapGlow=1 and change it to MapGlow=0 Save your prefs.ini file, and start Political Machine 2008. hdafgard, The drivers you have installed for your video card are dated 12/19/2007. Please check the Intel website for updated drivers for your Intel 945 Express Chipset.

Hmm, the delete button should be working. Please make sure you have the latest update (ver 1.50) of the game. Also, if you are running in Vista, please make sure you have proper permissions for deleting files. You can completely delete candidates by deleting their file from the following folders: /my documents/my games/polmachine2008/candidates /my documents/my games/polmachine2008/candidates/configs /my documents/my games/polmachine2008/candi

If you open up your /my documents/my games/polmachine2008/candidates folder, you willl see all the candidates you have created. You can either delete your sarahpalin.candidatexml file, or: Rename the file to MySarahPalin.candidatexml, and open it in NotePad Near the top, you should see a line like this: Change this to The

Jalida, The Print Shop willl print to whatever printer is specified as the Default printer. Unfortunately, at this time, the game does not support the other options for your printer. However, you should be able to set up default settings for your printer in the Windows Control Panel. Please post the contents of your debug.err file. That may have information that will help us to determine why your page is coming out blank. The debug.err file can be found

+ Are you able to see your candidates on the title screen and when you choose your candidate? Are they not working throughout the game or just when you are on the map? Please try updating your game via Impulse. The new version 1.50 is available now and may fix your problem. If it doesn't, please try the following: + Your debug.err file indicates that candidate outlines are on, please try disabling them in the new version of the game to see if that helps

Dear Codeg34, Thank you for posting your debug.err file. Usually this kind of graphical glitch can be fixed by updating your drivers. However, your drivers look like they are very recent ( Aug 1, 2008 ). You could check to see if there are any new vesions. If you haven't tried Windowed mode, please do and see if that makes a difference. If you have any other programs running, please close them before playing the game to see if one may be causing a con

mheckler, It looks like your graphic card is failing to create the vertex buffers needed to run the game. Please try going to the options screen and turning on the "Icons Only Mode" option. This will make the objects on the maps icons, which is less work for the video card. Then try starting a game. If that works, you can try re-enabling Multisamples and the Map Glow.

I second Cari's recommendations on the Effective C++ and Effect STL books. They will help you to get a better understanding of how the language and STL classes work so you can use them, well, more effictively :)

Please post your debug.err file. You can find this file in your /My documents/my games/PolMachine2008/ folder. Please open the file in notepad, then copy/paste the contents into a post here. The information in that file will give us a better indication of what part of the initialization is failing.

DethAdder, It looks likes your getting some errors when the game tries to create a texture. This usually indicates a driver problem. Your drivers are dated 12/5/2007. Please check the nvidia website for a newer driver for your GeForce 6800. This link looks like it has a newer version for your GeForce 6800 in Windows XP (32 bit): http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_175.19_whql.html You could try updating your
Is there any chance of having three possible candidates in a single game, one for each party and the Independent?
I'm afraid not. Without a major coding change, there is no way to have 3 candidates on the map at the same time competing against each other.

You can post your debug.err file right here on the forums. Just load the debug.err file into Notepad or any text editor. Highlight and copy the entire contents and paste them into your post here, or you could email it as an attachment to [email protected] . Without the debug.err, there isn't much we can suggest, except this: Have you used Impulse to get the newest version of the game? Make sure your vi

If you zip up the .candidatexml and .candidatecfgxml files from your /my documents/my games/polmachine2008/candidates and /my documents/my games/polmachine2008/candidates/configs folders and post it here (you'll need to host it elsewhere and link to it here), you can share your candidates with the world! :) Then when someone gets the zip file and unzips it, they can put the files in these folders in their own my documents/my games/polmachine folder:<
