Is that even the reason why it spontaneously crashes?
Yes, when the game runs out of memory it can't create the resources it needs to be able to run properly. We try to handle this as gracefully as possible when it happens. Running out of memory was the cause of several crashes that were reported. <DIV class=te

Medicanman, We are working on an update that should let you be able to use shader 3.0 and not have to force shader 2.0. There were some cases where when running in shader 3 mode would run out of memory, so we've cut down a lot on how much memory is used. We'll be releasing it as soon as it is ready.
kriznak8, There is a problem with some cards running shader 3.0 where the game will run out of memory which is what seems to be happening in your case. We are working on an update that should fix that problem and cut down on the amount of memory used. Glad to hear it's working. If you wouldn't mind, would you please try updating the drivers after the update is released? Thanks.
We have been looking into the game's memory usage. We do plan to release an update as soon as it is ready. The next update will include fixes that will cut down on a lot of the extra memory that was being used.
Also, you may want to try reinstalling to make sure the intro movie file was copied correctly.
will the Evga e-GeForce FX 5200 128MB AGP Graphics Card work?
According to this page from NVidia, the FX 5200 supports shader 2.0, so it should work: http://www.nvidia.com/page/pg_20040109440047.html The specs PDF on this page also shows that your card supports shader 2.0: <A href="http://www.evga.com/products/moreinfo.asp?pn=128-P1-N309-LX&pwindow=specs&family=13
kriznak8, I responded to your other thread about this problem here: https://forums.politicalmachine.com/317620
kriznak8, The reason why a lot of people are crashing at the "VS." loading screen is that the game is running out of memory. The next game update will include a fix that reduces the amount of memory in the game and should help those who were experiencing this kind of crash. In the mean time, you could try adjusting your virtual memory to give yourself more to work with. This post explains how t
The Intel 82865G graphics controller does not support shader 2.0, which is required to play the game. You can either upgrade to a new video card for your computer, or see this thread to request a refund: https://forums.politicalmachine.com/316509
does shader 4 work
I am using an NVidia 8600 GT which supports shader 4.0 and have no problems running the game. The game does not use any shader 4 shaders, but most cards that support shader 4 will also support shader 3 which the game can use. The minimum required is shader 2.0.
The tutorials are not actual videos. They are more of a "slideshow" format, where you can click Back or Next to progress through them. I think we originally wanted to have videos (and that's why it says that in the manual), but we opted for the slideshow instead.
You can also unlock candidate parts by playing and winning on each scenario. You can then use these parts in the editor to build your candidate bobblehead.
WARNING: Model Batch failed to validate shader 2.0 technique for shader instancing. Attempting to find a valid technique.
That card shouldn't have any problems with shader 2.0, so please try updating your drivers as described in CrazyC0330's post above. If that doesn't help, please let us know (post a new debug.err) and we'll go from there. Thank you.
Thanks, Chris! Glad to hear you're having a great time with the game.
the_great_loblo, I am unable to reproduce this on my end. Could you please post the contents of your debug.err file here? This file can be found in /My Documents/My Games/PolMachine2008/ You can open it with any text editor, and then copy/paste the contents here. This will give us a little more diagnostic information. Thanks in advance!
When you click New from the Select Your Candidate screen, it will bring you to the Create Candidate screen. From here, you can change the name, set stats, and set the stance on the issues. If you hit Ready your candidate will be saved. If you hit Back it will not be saved. When you click the "Customize Figurehead" button, it brings you to the editor where you can change what your candidate looks like. You do not need to use the Save/Load buttons on this screen.&n
If what ZubaZ says about requesting the serial number does not help, please send an e-mail to . They should be able to help you.
Does anyone know all the issues that are currently in the game ?Yeah, it was posted on another thread tho.
That post is located here: https://forums.politicalmachine.com/315975
Please check in Impulse to verify you have the newest version of Political Machine 2008. If you haven't updated, please update and then try loading your game and see if it looks ok when you load it. If that does not load right, try starting a new game, and then saving and loading it somewhere in the middle of the game. If it does not match up (or you already have the most recent version of the game), please send your saved game to <A href="mailto:support@star
You can also try turning off the Candidate Outlines in the Options screen. That may help it become less choppy.
Candidates can be unlocked by beating them in campaign. Each scenario unlocks certain candidate parts and/or candidates when you beat your opponent in "Quick Play" mode as well.
I saw it at the local Target store yesterday.
HOW-TO: Take a snapshot of your candidate and use the image online. NOTE: In order to do this, you will need to update to version 1.02.024 (or greater) via Impulse. The updated Political Bobble-head editor includes a "snapshot" feature which you can use to take a picture of your candidate that you can use outside of the game. As you can see, I'm using my own candidate's image as my avatar at this site. To take a snap shot, select the candidate you want to take
I can't promise that we'll add him in an update, but you could easily make your own Huckabee character in the character editor.
Terpfan: Please post your debug.err as boogiebac says, or email it to with a description of the problem. The Intel 945GM should be ok, as it does support shader model 2.0. Although Gateway does not have newer drivers you may be able to check the Intel web site and get new drivers from there.
