cnlevo: Sorry about my garbled message earlier... I had meant to write that if you have teatimer enabled, first try disabling that, rebooting and then re-installing WB5. If that didn't work, uninstall both apps, reboot and try reinstalling WB5 and see if it's still there on subsequent reboot. You get the picture. As it stands, and as Corky notes, if you don't really care that much about the per-pixel blending you can happily stay with 4.6 until a later build of WB 5 is released (and works on you

Just dropping in to note that excepting RegDefend under WindowBlinds 5 latest beta was successful in getting the checkboxes in that app to appear correctly. No other problems to report with respect to checkboxes in other apps...

No,not really... Seriously, though, I think the point to be made is that many of us have been in the same position as you and have resolved our problems and have done so within a basic framework of carefully documented attempts to identify the conflict (and it is a conflict with other apps in my experience) and without resorting to flamiing. I agree that it is frustrating. However, I don't see how, with an app that integrates itself into windows to the degree that Windowblinds does one can hold

cnlevo: I agree with yrag - I'd look to SpyBot as the culprit. First, try uninstalling WB5 in its entirety. Maybe even use the OD zapper (the link is elsewhere on this thread). Reboot. Unload/disable the Tea Timer (if you are using it) and try again. If that doesn't work try uinstalling Spybot and reinstalling WB5 after a reboot. ronw1961: I may be way off base here, but I think you're venting your spleen at the wrong person. I'm pretty sure that Corky is an end user like the rest of

I'm glad I made those backups - the third boot bounced me right back into the familar reboot pattern! Back to Tenebril support. cnlevo: Neil is absolutely right, WB5 runs like a dream for me as long as I don't have GhostSurf installed. Read the previous posts in this thread and you'll see that this issue is, as Neil says, related to apps deleting WB registry keys. We've even identified the keys that are being deleted.

Well, I re-installed GhostSurf 2005 today after corresponding with their support. They insist that the symptoms sound like corrupt drivers and directed me to uninstall GhostSurf, reboot, and reinstall it. I did so and DIDN'T restore my previous settings (something I stupidly did last time I tried this) and I have rebooted twice with my WB 5 installation intact. I don't know how nobodyzsukey got on with this, but it is working from my end. I've deleted ALL shortcuts to SpyCatcher and hope

I've got a similar problem with WB5 but it affects (as far as I can tell) only one program. Irritatingly, excluding the program has no effect. In my "version" of the problem, the radio button isn't displayed at all, though I know that it should be there. The affected app is RegDefend. Here are the details from WB system info tab: WindowBlinds 5.0 System Information Report: STATUS : WB+ SRV+ HLP+ UI+ TRAY+ WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this P

Hi Scorpio-logic, Thanks for the response - yes I WAS going bonkers (short trip... and no, I don't live anywhere near N.Y.C.!). I've used Spybot in the past and you're right - it is very good. I'll take a look! Cheers, Mike

PS I have just e-mailed Tenebril support to get their perspective on this issue. I haven't bothered until now because I was so fed up after spending two fruitless weeks trying to install WB5 that I just didn't care. After two subsequent weeks of smooth operation with WB5 installed, I can see more clearly the fact that having spent $50 on GhostSurf less than 8 months ago I am being a bit cavalier! This is a problem that must be resolved, I can see no reason for WB and GS Platinum not to

All right... I finally got around to creating an image of my c: drive and reinstalling Ghostsurf 2005 Platinum. I rebooted and WB 5 wasn't loaded! The "this computer must be rebooted to complete installation" problem had returned. I played around with the settings in GhostSurf and disabled and removed any services that I could find associated with it and rebooted - no joy. nobodyzsukey, my advice is to pick which of the two apps is more important to you and forget about the other. I

Hi nobodyzsukey, If you have Stardock Central loaded - fire it up and provide it with the serial numbers that it asks for. Then, go to the "Object Desktop" pane, which can be reached from a link at the top right of the SDC screen and you*should* see WB 4.6 listed as a component that you can install. If you haven't purchased Object Desktop, WB 4.6 will be the only one that doesn't say "shareware" after it... Anyway, on to your question about getting rid of the Tenebril

No one else seeing this? Has anyone traced it to anything that might be changed on the user's end? I saw the exact same problem running TrueLaunchBar (http://www.truelaunchbar.com/) - which replaces/augments the standard QuickLaunch Bar - and the developer is looking into it as he is seeing the same behaviour.

I've been running WinXP Pro for two years in classic mode with the themes service disabled and the display settings in My Computer->Properties->Advanced->Performance set to maximize performance. I bought WB5 after trialling it when it came out and actually see an improvement in the perfromance of my centrino notebook. Don't know how they did it, but it's sweet!

Hi Maxest, Thanks for your reply - I have tried dragging the icons and they won't budge. I'll check to settings for Quicklaunch and see if they're set to it being launched or not. [EDIT] I'm using the latest beta for OB 2 which is 1.99e[b].002. It *appears* from reading other threads that sorting the quick launch bar is not possible in OB 2, at least the betas.

Ok, I exaggerate, but it is noticeably slower switching to desktop view via clicking on the show desktop icon in ObjectBar than it is doing the same from the regular Windows taskbar. Anyone seeing this and, if so, is there a setting that can be changed or a workaround to speed this up? WinXP Pro Sp-2 on a Centrino notebook with a gig of RAM.

I have just purchased an ObjectDesktop subscription and am having difficulty running a number of the applications. They won't open but return an error stating that they can't find obzip.dll in either the Common Files/Stardock folder or in the ObjectDesktop/xxx folder. I have confirmed that these files are in fact present. Further, I have tried this with objectzip installed and uninstalled and, when installed, set as the default zip file handler. I have also tried uninstalling/reinstalling the ap

I have just purchased and installed ObjectDesktop (upgraded from WB 5) and am having trouble with ThemeManager. Specifically, when I try to load it I get an error message about OBZip.dll not being found. I have ObjectZip installed and OBZip.dll is correctly installed in the Common Files\StarDock folder in Program Files. Further, I am able to open and run OBZip archive without error and have ok'd setting OBZip as the default handler for zip files. I *do* have WinRar 3.51 and StuffIt Deluxe 9.1

I have sdmcp.exe running and both " mcp notification area support" and "smart start" enabled in SDC. I have the latest build of ObjectDock Plus 1.2 installed and Object Desktop. Neither ObjectBar nor ObjectDock will display any system tray items. Searching the forums I note that trayserver.exe may be a factor in this and I can confirm that it does not exist on my system. I've pulled my hair out having SDC uninstall/reinstall the various components and rebooting with no luck.</

Hi Neil, Thanks for the comments - I'm thrilled too! I've had a few hours sleep and am not (quite) so punchy now. The exe that is associated with the service is C:\Program Files\GhostSurf 2005\DeleteSvc.exe and the service is listed as "Tenebril antispyware satellite (TNBRLDS)". I *think* that what happened was that SpyCatcher flagged an installation file as spyware and removed it. I had SC set up to remove Spyware and *trick* the software that it was bundled wit

Hi all, I was *just* about to format my harddrive and try again when I had a change of heart (couldn't face reinstalling everything) and went looking for *anything* that might be causing this. Well, I found it: Tenebril's SpyCatcher installs a service called Tenebril Antispyware Satellite which its uninstaller apparenty does not remove. I had to go into my registry and cut it out manually. I had installed this as part of the GhostSurf Platinum 2005 suite. Thus, when I uninstal

Do you have Windows Themes disabled in services? Right click on "my computer" and select manage then look for services. Then scroll down to "themes" and see if it is started. If not, double click on it to get properites and see if it is enabled. Enable it and then start it. XP's default themes should now be installable.
