Clicking on "Show Desktop " in QuickLaunch is very slow

Ok, I exaggerate, but it is noticeably slower switching to desktop view via clicking on the show desktop icon in ObjectBar than it is doing the same from the regular Windows taskbar. Anyone seeing this and, if so, is there a setting that can be changed or a workaround to speed this up?

WinXP Pro Sp-2 on a Centrino notebook with a gig of RAM.

No one else seeing this? Has anyone traced it to anything that might be changed on the user's end? I saw the exact same problem running TrueLaunchBar (http://www.truelaunchbar.com/) - which replaces/augments the standard QuickLaunch Bar - and the developer is looking into it as he is seeing the same behaviour.
