I can't comment on the second of your points but to the first I'll respond with this: maybe I don't understand what you're saying, but if one doesn't dock ObjectDock to the edge of the screen, one may drag it anywhere one wishes... What more do you want? Sorry if I have misunderstood you.

ObjectDock Plus, WinTasks 5 Pro and System Tray Tab in ObjectDock Stardock Forums

I'm experimenting with having ObjectDock take the place of the taskbar/system tray completely. I've solved most of my problems but have a lingering one with WinTasks. Specifically, it locks up and is useless when run with the System Tray tab running. Anyone else have any experience with this?
