I have no problem with games being offered on Steam, as long as Steam is NOT REQUIRED! Don't force it on those of us who don't like it! I hate Steam and will not use it. I used to love Stardock because they offered an alternative and didn't sell out to Steam for the big bucks. Those days are over. I've been getting
Thanks for the heads up DrJBHL! I just picked it up. I used this program years ago on my Amiga. IIRC, when I started using Windows, I checked and it wasn't available on that platform.
Thanks for all the great info you provide Doc!
I hate Steam and will not buy any game that requires it. Over the years, there have been many games that I would have bought in a heartbeat but didn't because of their requirement to use obnoxious systems/DRM/etc. I didn't mind Impulse, but don't trust them since they sell games that require third party DRM/systems like Steam. Today, I buy almost all my games from GOG.com. Sometimes from retail or Impulse once I've researched their

I have no problem if Stardock makes it AVAILABLE on Steam for those that prefer that platform, but NOT REQUIRE it for those of us that don't. As far as I'm concerned, REQUIRING Steam is a total betrayal by Stardock. I will NOT buy anything that REQUIRES me to use Steam. I could have sworn I saw a Stardock post a while back stating that we would be able to use the "new" Stardock client for all our Stardock games. I was looking forward to Rebellion, not anymore. Goodbye Stard
I understand that everyone has their preferences, and rightly so. I'm with the OP on this one. I don't like Steam and won't use it. I was really looking forward to Skyrim. However, their decision to make it require Steam, even for a retail physical version, lost them a sale. I'm also looking forward to Rebellion. However, if it also requires Steam, it will be another lost sale. I would prefer to buy and download it from Stardock itself. But I refuse to use an intrus
This post made me realize that I may have been making a false assumption all these years. I don't remember the wording of the achievement. Is it to win with ONLY Capital Ships, or just not use frigates? In other words, can you use cruisers but not frigates?

Agreed, great software. I switched to it this year as OD+ was just too buggy on my system.
Back in my day, the neighborhood kids would come home from school, drop our books in our rooms, and be gone, somewhere outside until the moms started yelling for everyone to come home for dinner. Boy, our moms could really project their voices! Sigh, I feel so old. [e digicons]:([/e]
Thanks Ryat. I already grabbed DS b3, but sometimes I like to check out the base game with Bailknight's nicer graphics. Enjoy your vacation!
I just came here with the same question. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with modding. Did you mean try deleting the gameinfo directory of the mod? If so, did this work? Any news on an ETA for a 1.21 compatible update?
Well, you can add me to the list of Steam and DRM haters. Let me be perfectly clear. I will never use Steam unless they remove all DRM and the requirement to run a client. My game purchases were made, in order of preference: GOG (no DRM, client, etc.) - Far and away my preference Impulse or Retail (only for non invasive DRM titles) I'm going to wait and see what happens with Impulse, and thus hold off on purchases for now.
I'm actually happy they made game's memory usage more efficient. I'm running a very old WinXP PC with 1 GB system memory and 1 GB video memory. I installed the DS mod a week or so ago, and have been pleasantly surprised that I'm able to play it with the nice effects.
