I installed Fences Pro and Deskscapes 3 on my WinXP system yesterday and they did not work together. Unfortunately it was late, so I can't remember if I rebooted, etc. in between. I just uninstalled to get working again. Is there a list of things to try to get them to work together on XP? Will they just not work together on XP?
I’m looking forward to not running into the 2 gigabyte limit anymore on development.
I'd love to. Unfortunately, money is tight and I can't afford a new system. I'll have to make do with my lowly single core 3Ghz P4 with a whopping 1GB of Rambus memory. But I'll get right on that upgrade as soon as your check arrives.

OP: I know what you mean. I've owned the original forever. I waited for a long time before breaking down and picking up Entrenchment. I've been waiting for the Diplomacy expansion to go on sale. Did I miss it, or was it just the bundle that was on sale? [e digicons]:([/e]

When I first saw it, I freaked. I love GOG and would have been very disappointed to see them close up shop. I like and use Impulse, but I prefer GOG. However, in my opinion, it was poor PR on their part. Imagine if you were a current customer of theirs and visited their website

I was very excited when I saw GCII Ultimate on sale, since I bought the original game years ago but don't have any of the expansions. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, only the download version is on sale and not the retail physical copy. Is this correct? I really wanted to get the physical copy so I could get an updated physical manual. Guess I'll have to hit the local stores for a copy.
It should install right over top without any complaint, though if you prefer to keep it clean and do an uninstall, doing so shouldn't remove any settings, saves, or ship designs you have (though those won't be portable to DA/TA).
Thanks for the info. One more question, should I leave my curent GalCiv II serial number in Impulse, or remove it and register the one that comes with the Ultimate package?

I bought GalCiv II when it was released years ago. I don't have any of the expansions, but I've kept the original patched. I'm planning to buy GalCiv II Ultimate at a local store since it's cheaper than buying the expansion packs these days. If I do, will the Ultimate disk upgrade my existing installation or will I need to uninstall my original game and install everything from the Ultimate package?

Unfortunately, my previous reply was apparently the victim of the forum rollback. [e digicons]:([/e] Anyway, how about applying some fixes for the base game. I haven't bought the expansions since money is tight and I hate micromanaging things like spies, etc. which I understand are in the expansions.

I just got Entrenchment and would like to hear opinions on which SB upgrades/levels are the most useful for each race. I play single player. If your recommendation varies with SP vs MP please specify. The Vasari have several upgrades which sound very nice. In fact, too many for the 8 upgrade slots. How do you think the repair and frontal shield upgrades compare in importance to the defensive upgrades? I believe the third Vasari SB weapon upgrade is a 20% boost to wea
@Itharus&SPMaverick- well, what may be occuring is that you are trying to get to a Kostura-blasted planet that is in another solar system. Phase Stabs unfortunately don't work across solar systems, only across the in-system.
This occured in a single star game for me. I usually play single star SP games. Can you shoot a Kostura at a planet in a different star system?

I played the original Sins a long time ago, and really liked the Vasari even though the bugs with the Vasari phase stabilizers really irrated me. Anyway, I heard they were fixed so I picked up Entrenchment the other day. I was wondering if everyone thinks all the bugs got fixed? While not necessarily a bug, I was wondering if you are supposed to be able to phase jump between friendly phase stabilizers if you have a Vasari ally?

I was wondering about this also. I was thinking about taking the PS upgrade to a SB but haven't yet. Is this fixed yet? Also, last night I tried to jump from a PS node on one of my worlds to a planet I just hit with a Kostura and it wouldn't do it. It wanted to path the long way around. I thought this was supposed to work? FYI, I just got Entrenchment a few days ago, and this is my first Vasari game with it.

Thanks for all the info guys! I've been using bombers but thought I must have been missing something since the other races have a ship seemingly dedicated to taking down Starbases. As far as the Z-axis thing goes, I didn't even know it existed, let alone how to do it. In any case, I have no desire to do it and I only play single player. Thanks again for the tips.

I'm looking for some tips playing Entrenchment as Vasari. I've had Sins for a long time but just got Entrenchment the other day. I've played a game as TEC and am now playing as Vasari. It seems that both TEC and Advent can get torpedo cruisers to safely take out Starbases. However the Vasari apparently can't get them. So how do Vasari "safely" take out SBs? Spam bombers? Will their lrf with the charged missile upgrade be able to attack from outside the SBs attack range? So
Well you asked if the expansions worth the money. Don't get angry, if someone says yes! Both expansions are great and worth playing. If you play the basic game, the first and the second datadisc you play quite different games. The AI is different, the technology tree is different, but all games are great.
Hm, how much for just one expansion then? For me, converted to NOK, the expansions are 120 NOK each, and the Bundle Pack 180 NOK. Now that's a good deal. Ultimate however is 240 NOK. 40 USD is 241,96 NOK, so it seems we have simular prices. With this in mind, complaining about the bundle pack price seems absurd. It's a good deal. As for buying for you, I could. I am unemployed at the moment, and even
I do hope you guys are joking. Look at the price for just one of the expansions, then look at the bundle price. Add together what it would of cost you if you bought the expansions seperatly! The bundle pack is not expensive at all. You are practically getting the second expansion 80% off. Old? GalCiv 2 came out in 2006. Dark Avatar came out in 2007, and Twilight of The Arnor came out in 2008. Hardly old.<

This is one of the reasons I haven't played in a long time. I have the original Sins, updated through Impulse of course, but not Entrenchment. This problem started a long long time ago. I like playing the Vasari, but when trying to make a jump, the fleet will quite often take the long way around. I've had it happen both with a Marauder fleet to a stabilizer node and vice versa. It's quite annoying. I'm sorry to hear it hasn't been fixed yet. </p
