I may be opening up a whole can of worms for myself here, but I would like some WB skinners/long time users to look at and evaluate my last few skins. I'm running into serious blocks trying to come up with ideas for my next skin, I think mainly trying to do things that may be out of my reach at this point. Mainly, I'd like to know what's good and what's bad with my skins. The most pleasure I get from skinning is taking that final screenshot and seeing all my work amounted to something. Howev

I believe it is SkinDisplay=1
and the saga continues.....
I feel your pain paxx. Maybe we should ask treetog. Doesn't lunar base do this...maybe not, have to check it out.
paxx...has anyone come up with a solution to the toolbar mouseover yet?
I posted a thread a few days ago trying to get help on this a couple days ago, but not one person responded. I've tried and tried to figure this out also. I think I've tried adding every attribute available, but no luck. For my Fuel skin, I really wanted to use black toolbar buttons, but couldn't because I couldn't figure out how to get anything but black text on hover.
I know from making skins myself that the author can tuen it on or off. I did not know that this feature was dependent on the version of IE you're running. There is a similar situation that will soon happen. Starting with version 3.15 of WB, scrollbars will be skinned in IE, but only on 6.0.
Another reason you're seeing it more now than before is because WB3 allows you to skin the IE toolbar background, and making the buttons flat allows the skinned background to show through better.
It's intentional. Some prefer the flat look on the toolbar, others don't. I guess it's kinda in fashion right now to have them flat until mouseover.
You have to be running Windows XP for the taskbar to be totally skinned as you see in the screenshots. Check out Objectbar at https://www.stardock.com. I believe it works on W2K and will skin the taskbar in XP like fashion.
Which version of windows and windowblinds are you running?
It goes way beyond being "showy" lancer. It's virtually a completely new OS internally. There are many, many reasons Xp is better....mainly stability, also the fact that it is "showier" is another point in my book.
I know alek is on bit of a break from skinning...not sure about the others though.
I have a "brighter" skin that I'll be uploading in the next couple of days..here's a screenshot.https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=13&file=prev.JPG&SkinID=412
The Site Director of themexp (Greg), is fairly new to the skinning scene. He's trying to do the best job that he can. Themexp is easily the best place to find msstyles yet, in large part because Greg recognizes that he's new to the scene and is open to suggestions and guidance from others. It is true that very good quality msstyles are few and far between, but there are some artists doing them that are very talented, especially considering that they've only been skinning for a few months. This has been addressed in several older threads. Probably not going to happen anytime soon.
I'd be interested in giving it a whirl.
Thanks for the tip...hadn't been there in ages and forgot about it. Found a few very nice ones. What icon set is that in your screenie?
higher res.....must have higher res....
Anyone care to share if they've decided on any New Year's resolutions? I'm going to get over my fear of making WinXP skins and make one even if it's crap (which I'm sure it will be). And....for the 15th consecutive year, I'm going to quit smoking.
I've searched high and low for a great wallpaper to use with Alexandrie's Bleu windowblinds skin and have yet to find one. Surely there are a ton of users here that are using this skin. What wall(s) have you found that compliment this skin?
You're asking for the changes between 1.3 and 3.1 ? If so, go to http://www.windowblinds.net.
I've noticed this is in the past also...seemed like it got better lately though. There was talk of possible solutions to this, but then the talk just kinf of died without anything being done.
Do you have Windows XP? Windowblinds 3? Which skin(s) are you having problems with?
Odigo is not bad for novice users, but feature for feature doesn't compare favorably to Trillian. Last time I checked, Odigo doesn't support IRC or group chat as Trillian does. Odigo has some "cool", but not very practical features, such as showing you other Odigo users who are currently on the same web page as you...cute, but not very useful. Odigo also requires you to download and install additional plug-ins for it to support AIM, Yahoo, MSN, etc.....already built into Trillan. Trillian als
