I am glad to report I read a post about the same issue. It indeed was the fact I used a non-letter/number character. I had the name as this "J. Mike" as my first name. That period caused all sorts of problems I guess. I have the 1.02 patch, and it still screws up, so I don't think that feature is completey fixed yet. A small glitch, hope it is the last I find.

I am rather mystified by the crash, but it is weird. If I install the game, never remove the CD, and play the game, it works fine. But the minute I remove the CD, put it back in, the game crashes whenever I try to start a campaign or what not. Also, created candidates disapear and the state data for each candidate disapears. It is very strange that I can play the game if I don't ever remove the CD, but the second I take it out, when I put i
