Game Crash Error

I am rather mystified by the crash, but it is weird.

If I install the game, never remove the CD, and play the game, it works fine. But the minute I remove the CD, put it back in, the game crashes whenever I try to start a campaign or what not. Also, created candidates disapear and the state data for each candidate disapears. It is very strange that I can play the game if I don't ever remove the CD, but the second I take it out, when I put it back in, these errors occur.

I have successfuly completed a campaign with no errors or issues, but the minute I eject and re-insert the CD, the game crashes when I try to start it up and get it going again.

Any help?

I am glad to report I read a post about the same issue. It indeed was the fact I used a non-letter/number character. I had the name as this "J. Mike" as my first name. That period caused all sorts of problems I guess.

I have the 1.02 patch, and it still screws up, so I don't think that feature is completey fixed yet.

A small glitch, hope it is the last I find.

vonkorping, are you using the 1.02 patch linked to in one of these threads (which is older than the official patch) or did you get it through the downloads section?
