I'm from Arkansas, and growing up, Clinton was King. He was a rather moderate governor here, not liberal at all. I'm not sure what you were expecting, because in general, Southern Democrats are more conservative than Democrats elsewhere. Clinton is pro-death penalty, pro-war on drugs, and his education plan for Arkansas has some similiarities to W's "No Child Left Behind."
