First move, build up to a 3rd level HQ. Then build some more HQs. Then win as many endorsements as you can. Then go from there. I have done that, I gotta be doing something wrong past there. In one game I even had all but 2 endorsement and was leading in nearly every state. By the end

No matter what I have tried I simply can't outspend Clinton or Nixon. I am outspending the others in the ladder by no less than 10 million but when I reach these two its like a complete reversal. My current campaign has me directing Clinton against Nixon and in 10 games he has outspent me by no less than 10 million every game. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thought of a few more tips. Make sure you pay attention to the political break down of each state when you pick your issues. Don't find your self helping your opponent by pressing his issue with his base for him. Pay attention to the national polls. While the state polls are important, they don't matter a whole lot if you are losing 8 of the top 10 issues nationally. I can't count the number of games where I didn't even know what
I know this is a bug but it got me to wondering, does moving the candidate around in the same state increase awareness? If not I think it should, although it should cost you stamina, because candidates do often travel up and down a single state to gain support. I think the VP thing should work the same way but it should cost you stamina also.
I would guess Vilsack made the cut because he was on the very short list of possible VPs for Kerry.
I know you guys have been taking a lot of flack lately but I gotta say, as someone that has spent most of his online game playing dealing with Sony (not in EQ) you guys are a a class above. Some of us do appreciate the work.
Thanks Frog!
That's kinda vague. It would be hard to offer more than the suggestions in the sticky tip thread without knowing your stats and campaign strategy.
I got a different error message, something about a temp mail file not being able to be made.
He will show up on a clipboard in the upper left corner of the screen. Click on the clipboard, the background on it should turn bluish, then click on the person to be "fixed".
That could be the case, though I thought the final tallies are already after the margin of error is included That's what I thought too but who knows. Perhaps its because the game doesn't seem to actually end. I haven't played multiplayer and have never lost a state this way. Not real helpful and
"This is AFTER the votes have been tallied. I am up 52-47, that is beyond the +/-3 point margin of error that the manual speaks of" Again, not claiming this isn't a bug but, this is within the error margin. Move you down 3 and you opponent up 3 and you lose 50-49. While that doesn't explain the problem you had in PA, it could account for your loss here.
I outspend my opponent up until level 6 which I haven't been able to beat as either a dem or a repub, but I am getting close. Anyhow, HQs are the key. I know it was said above but it needs repeating. Upgrade your headquarters. It is good to have a lot of HQ but to keep money coming in it is better to have a few level 3 HQ than a bunch of level 1 hq's.
I like the idea of primaries and I think it should affect your positions in the main race. I don't think they really need to break it down to which states have what type of primary just follow the pattern of primary dates and have them all as popular voting. I also would like to see the computer controlled opposition party having to go through primaries as well and kind of have it setting the stage for the main race. it would be nice to have to deci
While this may be a bug, I do think it should be possible to lose a state even with a slightly higher approval. This is where we need a break down of turn out though. In Cali there are a lot more dems than republicans so even with a higher approval it could be that some of your dem supporters would rather not vote than vote republicans. If it is a bug I hope they fix it but I also hope they stabalize it and make turn out a much larger, and trackable
Just a thought here, shouldn't this kind of info be in the FAQ at the top of the forum so future visitors don't have to go scrolling for it?
Thanks frog, despite all my whining here about what else I want from this game, I really do love it.
Does this make them avaliable to pick as VPs?
I keep losing them because the AI is moving when I am stuck looking at a newspaper.
I think the entire rating system need revamped. I would be inclined to agree that this was a game play decision but that could have been balanced with the other stats. Clarke should have a much lower experience rating than Kerry and in political terms it is far better to be an experienced politician than an experienced soldier.
Hope ya don't mind but I'd like to hijack your rant for a sec. How did Kerry recieve a higher militar rating than Clarke? Supreme Commander vs Lt and Lt is higher? Some of the experience ratings leave me scratching my head as well but this one just seems wrong.
While I agree with everything you said, I don't think the republicans have a clear 2008 choice in real life either. I do think one of the drawbacks of the game is the lack of characters to run. I can't believe Barbara and Laura Bush made the cut but Elizabeth Dole didn't. I haven't tried so I have to ask, can user made candidates be VP choices?
I would buy it again. I haven't tried multiplayer, sadly I live in the boonies and broadband isn't avaliable, so single player is my only option. I think the replayability is one of the games strengths. Sure if you play the same character the same way it gets kinda predictable but most games do. And while I would like to see outside influnces pop up to change that part some, playing as different candidates supporting different issues offers a lot o
McCain and Guliani for sure but considering the deomcrats in the game, folks like Frist aren't as viable. Yes in a perfect all encompassing game they belong but when you look at the real dem candidates in the game there is a good reason for them to be there. If they can leave out Lieberman, I can see leaving out Frist, Jeb, or Ridge. Perhaps a sticky with most wanted additional characters is in order?
I was dissapointed with the VP republicans but looking at the national political scene, it kinda makes sense. Whitman and Engler would have been good additions if the game was made back in 2000 but right now the pickings in real life are a bit slim.
