Rick Santorum...Patriot

Acoording to GOP Senator Rick Santorum, you don't have to put on a uniform to serve your country. You just have to put one of his bumper stickers on your car;

"And yet we have brave men and women who are willing to step forward because they know what's at stake. They're willing to sacrifice their lives for this great country. What I'm asking all of you tonight is not to put on a uniform. Put on a bumper sticker. Is it that much to ask? Is it that much to ask to step up and serve your country?"

Look I know he's a republican. But please do not put him with the GOP. He's about as much of a republican as Specter is. They are "both" RINO's!

I guess that's assuming that the only way anyone can serve their country is putting on a uniform...

But I'll agree with you, bumper stickers are a nice little show of support for any cause, but actually getting off our butts and doing something for the cause is the true meaning of support and service.

I love how you guys put that "RINO" label on any Republican who puts his foot in his mouth. What makes him a RINO?

FYI:

He was talking about one of his bumper stickers, not a "support the troops" sticker.

Where would you like me to start? I know. Lets start with his gun rights voting. Which IMHO sucks and according to "Gun Owners of America" REALLY SUCKS.

Well, that cinches it. He's not a gun freak..definitely not a "real" republican.

*tosses santorum's acu 90/90/87 ratings out the window*

does this mean rick's gone brokeback on us?

Don't be a clown. The gun issue is something that's near and dear to my heart and just happened to be the one I picked. There are a LOT more that he's done that to. If you actually lived in this state, you'd know.

Remember that line when you talk trash about other Senators.

Your the one that started this with this line.

If you don't like the outcome....don't ask the questions.

I'm pretty sure I started with the first post, not that.

Either way. Makes no never-mind to me.
See you missed the whole point. When something is said about a senator from another state to which I reply in kind and then I get corrected by someone that lives there, I tend to shut-up afterwards....not make fun of them and their reply like you did.

My mistake, I didn't realize I was being "corrected".

Why didn't you? Are you that dense? What would you call this, a pat on the back?

What makes him a RINO?

You answered...

It's my understanding that a correction would require a mistake or misstatement to be made. What mistake did I make? Apparently I'm too "dense" to see it.

I guess so! And just for your information correction could also mean supplying missing information, which is what I did. Furthermore your question implies that you did not consider hima RINO. Which is a mistake.

Well, whatever he meant, we can either put on a uniform, which many of us cannot, even though we'd love to, or we can show our support with bumper stickers and magnets.
Or, we can get online and have debates with sarcastic, self-righteous left-wing pissants who constantly want to complain, but yet have no answers themselves.

I'm doing both, actually. But what I'd give to be in the uniform.

Well, I did put on a uniform for 4 years, does that give me a pass on not having magnets on my car? I'm sure the soldiers really appreciate your magnets and having debates online.

I'm with RW. A politician gives a motivational speech to his base. Where's the problem?

I mean, it's not like he tried to fire them up by telling them they were enslaved and oppressed by the opposition faction.

Ok, I've got it now. An answer to a question is a correction.

I didn't say it was a problem, I just thought it was funny. Hence the >>

The concept of a "Re-Elect Santorum" sticker is supporting your country is funny. I'm guessing he must have had a Reagan Sticker on his car back in the day as his contribution to the country, as opposed to putting on a uniform.

Davad:
I took basic at Ft. Jackson, SC in August, with the heat, bugs. My reward for my efforts and my desire to serve my country? A medical discharge for having a seizure. I was holed up in Moncreif Army Hospital (Man, been a while since I saw those words---not sure if I even spelled it right) until they decided to send me home. Worst three weeks of my life. I was very depressed for a long time after.
I thank you for serving, I really do, but if you're trying somehow to belittle me for not serving, please don't go there, because I very much wanted to, and I tried.

And I didn't have a Reagan sticker on my car----it was on my History notebook, appropriately enough.
I also had a big Reagan-Bush pin that I proudly wore on my letterman jacket.
