U S Economy NOT Improving for the American Family

Yesterday the Dept of Labor reported that after inflation, the Average Hourly Earnings DROPPED .5% in 2005. That followed a .7% drop in 2004. Thus, during the past two years the Average Hourly Wage has DROPPED 1.2%. That means that for the average family the economy is WORSE not BETTER as Bush and company claim. The report said, "People see energy prices going up and they get a little worried about what they can afford to spend". Analysts said the wage weakness was having an impact on consumer confidence. This coupled with record high credit card balances being carried by the average American family show the Economic Boom that Bush claims is taking place is an illusion for the average American! The only place where a Boom is taking place is on the income statements of SOME companies such as Big Oil and in the net worth of the wealthy!

The GM losses reported are 10X more then anticipated. As big as they are, about 1.3 Billion, they do not include the write offs that will add another 3 Billion. GM is in serious financial trouble. Yes, the economy is GREAT!

Col, you are now repeating yourself. I already posted that the automakers situation isn't part of the economy being bad or good. Only you can somehow blame Bush for it. Why don't you address the analysis made above?

Regardless of the reasons, we NEED to end the deficit financing. We need to cut the pork and earmarks which have exploded under Bush and the GOP controlled Congress. We need to reduce the rate at which we are increasing non-defense spending. We need to end the Iraq War and we need to increase tax revenue by restoring the tax rates on the top 5% (the group that can afford a little more in taxes and the group that will not impact spending by a small tax increase).

You mean surrender, overtax successful people, and income redistribution.

Col, start answering the posts directed to you and stop ignoring them. You are looking more and more like a fraud.

The conditions of the largest corporations are VERY much a part of how the economy is doing.

To a certain point col. Although I see you totally ignore AGAIN the analysis made to you. This is typical of you col, you ignore everything and somehow come back to blame Bush.

Do you understand this is why nobody takes you seriously?

The U S Conference of Mayors just released their study that shows the jobs created in the past few years pay 21% less then the jobs that were lost and have fewer benefits. The middle income family is NOT seeing an improving economy. For many the economy is WORSE!

And Wal-mart posted "record" sales up 6.2% and Costco posted 11%. So much for your "failing economy" theroy.

Wal-Mart posting higher sales does not prove the average worker is better off in this economy. If you lost your job between 2001 -2003 and got a new job in 2004 or 2005 making 20% less tell me you are doing well. That is what took place per the U S Conference of Mayors which is made up of both republican and democratic Mayors.

Baloney! Just who do you think goes into Wal-Mart and buys the stuff that pushes up their sales? The average guy that's who.

You live in a bubble like Bush. People are spending and charging it to their credit cards. The Average credit card balance is at an ALL TIME HIGH of over $8,600 per family. Last month the American family also took money from their savings to do that spending you are crowing about. This is taken place because that Average weekly wage is dropping. All this has grave consequences for the future.

Credit card spending is only relevant IF it is because they can not afford basic necessities. If they're charging luxuries, or charging necessities because they spent all their money already on luxuries, that is a sign of poor money management and NOT a poor economy.

Got any proof? Or are you just trying to blow sunshine up my butt? Cause what your talking about just ain't so in my house. And since I consider myself an "average" American, I'd have to say you are full of it. It's running out of your mouth.

I notice when you ask for proof he doesn't respond anymore. Typical.

I don't have any credit cards cause I messed up my credit a while back, so I'm not included in that group. I don't make enough to make ends meet but that's my fault. I spend a lot of my money in Wal-Mart. I just like the damn store, it's like an overseas gasoline addiction. Sorry couldn't resist.

I would like to know who are these people Col says are doing really bad. My mother-in-law and her hubby from Miami are doing just fine, so is my sister-in-law, my brother and his wife, my cousins in NJ, my aunts, 3 of them, so, once again who are these people Col speaks of? And Why am I giving his articles more points, trolling time.

It ain't the livin-in-a-bubble crowd patronizing Wal-Mart & Costco, Chicken Li... I mean Gene.

Here's what I'm thinking - To get that $8k+ per family of credit card debt, there has to be some people out there with some serious card balances ... 'cause mine are zero (0, zed, nada, zip, zilch). Don't have a credit card to my name. Why? Because I chose not to. The temptation to use them for junk that I don't need was too great. So, we paid them off, cut them up, and now do with out. Has it made it any easier? Not in this day and age, but it sure is nicer to know that the only debt I've got is my cars and montly bills.

So much easier.

Problem is - COL Clueless ignores anything and everything that might have to make him think about his kneejerk reactions. Walks through life w/ blinders on with pictures of GWB on the INSIDE. So that he can honestly say that he sees Bush everywhere he goes.

I always have and always will say that most people are in debt because they don't understand how a credit card works and they buy too much of what they don't need and can't afford.
