With the latest update, Start11 conflicts with DisplayFusion

in Windows: I used to set "Show my taskbar on all displays" OFF, "Automatically hide the taskbar" OFF

in Start11 v2: I used to enable "Let Start11 enhance the taskbar" and enable "Start11 autohide mode"

in DisplayFusion: "Enable multi-monitor taskbars"

The result was:

Monitor 1: enhanced with Start11 and autohide with Start11 (OLED monitor)

Monitor 2: taskbar from DisplayFusion, always visible

Now, when this is done, the taskbar on Monitor 1 breaks and keeps flashing.

As a bug request, would this be fixable to return to previous state, so the enhanced taskbar would not break, if DisplayFusions multi-monitor taskbars are enabled?

Or as a feature request, could we add "Start11 autohide mode" to be configurable per monitor? That would solve my problems and I wouldn't have to use DisplayFusion for this (which I can't anyway right now with the latest Start11 version, but it was working fine for a long time before the latest updates to Start11).

Is there any other reason why you are using the displayfusion secondary taskbar over the OS ones?

Only reason is that I just want secondary taskbar visible all the time, that's why i use DisplayFusion at the moment. I have a lot of applications with notifications running, like Slack, and when the taskbar is hidden, I don't see they have pending messages I need to reply to. When I enable Start11s enhancement and hide features, it applies to all taskbars and I don't see a way to apply autohiding just to main screen.

Hello

I have the same issue on my windows 11 - 24H2 OS Build -26100.4652.

The task bar loads up with windows and parts of it are not skinned.

Ok was about to take a screenshot to show this happening but the strangest thing happens.

When i use snipping tool to take a picture of the desktop in the preview of what i have selected for the picture, the taskbar is shown as it should be fully skinned. However when i look at the desktop normally the task bar isnt fully skinned and stops abruptly? Very odd.

So the picture i have added to this post i took with my phone to show the problem.

Taskbar skinning missing parts

I have already run the purge and uninstalled Start11V2 as is described in the link you posted to another user in the thread.

What else might you need to know?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I can't view the picture you posted. Perhaps you need to set it to be "public" for someone else to view it.

en you access now.

Are you also using displayfusion in your system? If not, look like this is issue on your specific system. It is best to create your own thread so we can help you from there.

If you restart Windows Explorer, does it resolve it?

Another problem with 2.53, when my computer wakes from the sleep, there's a black line rendered on my bigger screen. Apx the line matches the resolution of smaller screen, it's like the 1px taskbar bottom line was rendered on the wrong display and stayed there. I can do anything, scroll apps, hide or show windows, the line just stays there. It's even visible on screenshots.

Is there a way to revert to previous version through Steam? Before the last updates the Start11 was totally stable and without noticeable bugs and now I can't have one taskbar hidden and other don't, it conflicts with DisplayFusion I had to uninstall and it still renders weird lines on my big screen.

Edit: restarting explorer helps to get the line disappear, but it's annoying.

I use Windows multi Desktop (Create with Win-Tab) and switch with CTRL-Win-Arrow right/left between.
After I switch to the new desktop, an empty taskbar is shown, or the Taskbar from the other screen.
Only after a mouse over the Taskbar, or click on the Taskbar resolve it.

The recent file list disappearing bug is back.  It was fine for the longest time so not sure if the last update to Win11 did something.  Uninstalled and will reinstall again to see.  Hopefully was just a glitch.

I'm using Start11 2.53 on Windows 10.

Using any of the Start Menu styles, under "Configure menu>Advanced> Show Recently Added apps" is selected

But the recently added apps do not appear in any of the style menus.

They do appear in the standard Windows menu.

I can't find any help docs indicating that I need to do something else to show the Recently Added apps.

Yes, that tick box is enabled.

If I use the standard Windows start menu, then Recently Installed appears.

Its just not in the Start 11 menu.

Please try the new 2.55 beta. Remember to reboot as soon as the installer finished. If the issue still there please post a screenshot.

This appears to be a general design issue, but there is a behavior difference for the Start11 power button depending on whether I click it with the mouse or use the keyboard (windows key and arrows) to select it. By clicking the mouse I have 'Sign in options, Sleep, Shut Down, and Restart' but when I use the keyboard only 'Sleep and Shut Down' are available. There are times I am unable to use the mouse and need to restart, so this inconsistent behavior is a real hassle.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I can not reproduce your issue on my system. Need to know more on your issue/system.

  1. You on Windows 10 or 11? Also need its full version and OS Build Numbers. Please use Winver.exe to get these numbers.
  2. Start11 full version number installed.
  3. Which Start menu style you're using?
  4. Issue on Desktop system or Notebook?

Thank you,

Regarding Post #4:

Just FYI, this is a constant issue (for me) and has always been the case whenthe taskbar is 'forced' to be at the top of the screen.  As mentioned, it is simple to 'drop' the item below to taskbar by clicking the edge of the item which refreshes it, but it is annoying all the same.
