While this is happening less with 2.52 beta than 2.50 and 2.51 stable, I am still having issues where if I am up from my desk and leave my computer locked for a while, it lags up everything. Nothing seems to resolve it besides killing Explorer, killing Start11, and then restarting Explorer. If I preemptively kill Start11 before I leave my computer, the issue doesn't happen.
Even if things aren't so bad my computer is too lagged up to be usable, sometimes Explorer seemingly randomly crashes and restart. If I preemptively killed Start11 at boot, that doesn't seem to happen.
A couple days back, I did try uninstalling Start11, rebooting, installing the latest version, and rebooting again. The issue just happened again, which is why I am writing now.
My experience seems to track with the above suggestion Start11 may have a memory leak when the computer is left on the lock screen. Other things that seem potentially relevant to mention:
- At this point, the main Start11 customizations I have are the Win10-style Start menu and moving my taskbar to the top of my screen. I hoped disabling other taskbar customizations would reduce Start11's resource usage enough to stop the issues, but no luck.
- My computer is a laptop with a high-density (2×) display, but I regularly use it connected to two 1× displays. I have had issues with taskbar items getting stuck at 2× when I connect to the external displays or getting stuck at 1× when I disconnect. I don't recall ever having those issues prior to Start11 2.5x. It occurred to me if the machine went to sleep while I was away, this issue with (re)connecting to external displays may compound with the potential memory leak on the lock screen.

- Sometimes, when Explorer starts lagging up, it seems to impact Firefox first/more severely than Chrome. I don't know whether there is something Start11 does that may conflict with some way Firefox interacts with Windows? It could just be coincidental (e.g. different browser architectures responding differently to Start11's resource consumption).
- The computer has a 12th Gen i7, 32 GB RAM, and the latest stable channel updates for Windows 11 (24H2), Chrome, and Firefox.
- The only other apps I use to customize Windows at this point are Auto Dark Mode and Microsoft PowerToys (specifically the Advanced Paste, Always On Top, Color Picker, Environment Variables, Find My Mouse, Hosts File Editor, Image Resizer, Keyboard Manager, PowerRename, PowerToys Run, Quick Accent, Screen Ruler, and Shortcut Guide modules).
