Good day, Basj.

I was able to create a video of the behavior. However, I am uncomfortable publicly posting a video of my desktop showing my username, etc.

I have watch your video and my question, is the issue also happen if you use Start11 searchbox in the Startpanel?

Thank you,

Basj,

Oddly, I do not see a Start11 searchbox in my Startpanel, which is similar to the one shown above.  Where would I find the switch to enable it?

I found the switch that enables the search box.  I did a reboot.  The Start11 seachbox is now visible and works just fine.

Operator error on my party, I would guess.

Thank you for your patience, Basj.

I recently installed the trial version of Start11 v2 2.21 and I noticed that the right widget is already displayed even if the Enhance taskbar option is enabled, its cool that... but after the trial period was over I went back to my copy of Start11 (1.55) and they haven't fixed that problem.

Something that I also noticed is that in the all programs section of the start menu, the initial letters appear very small in Start11 v1:

Instead in Start11 v2 they appear larger, like the standard windows 11 menu:

It is sad and regrettable that they have abandoned support for users who bought Start11 in order to give priority to update v2.

Will both details be corrected for Start11 v1 someday or can we just resign ourselves?

The smaller text is not a bug in v1.55, it is purely a design choice which was changed in v2.

hello!  :S

1. why is the line "abbreviated day of the week/time (local time)" added to the tray after hovering over the clock? how to remove it? I have only one time zone selected. moreover, a little higher and so the line is the day of the week in full, then "date, month and year" 2. why when downloading a file in the browser, the download progress is not shown in color in the panel. and it's still convenient when the browser is minimized and something big is downloaded...

I believe this is not a version issue. Please create a new thread for it with some more details.

  1. Windows full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Screenshots of the issues you're referring here.

It would be nice if you can add a (start11 autohide mode) toggle on the taskbar right click menu. Right now it takes 5 clicks and a long scroll down to turn it on and off, and that option really isn't a (set it and forget it) kind of thing. Depending what you are doing you may want the taskbar to autohide or not.

As you know using the corresponding windows option will disable a lot of start11 taskbar functionality.

Another option is if it can be a taskbar icon that toggles it on and off (even better since it's a single click)

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I believe this is already the in the taskbar right click.

Thank you.

That's the windows option, if you use it, it disables start 11 taskbar options, I think there is a warning message

If you have the Enhanced taskbar enabled in Start11v2, the "Autohide taskbar" item is added to the context menu as Basj shows above.

pelaird, did you apply 24H2 yet? I have enhanced mode enabled but the option is not showing up. I uninstalled Start11v2 before I applied the update and reinstalled it after. I did retain the previous settings. Note that the screenshot you posted and the one I posted are of the same settings page.

I uninstalled Start11 and now I get these messages and still cannot install it.

Try purge and reinstall using the instructions found here.

Hi, I tried this and it did the same thing. I then searched everywhere including the registry and deleted everything Stardock. I restarted the computer and installed the Object Desktop software again and it does the same thing. I'm going to reinstall Windows on a different drive in the next few weeks and see what happens. Thanks

Hi,

I reinstalled Windows and everything Stardock works fine now.

Thanks for your help.

I really appreciate it a lot.

In your screenshot, you don't have "Enable Start11 autohide mode" turned on. If you turn that on, the item should appear in the taskbar context menu.

I understand that it shows up for you and basj when the checkbox is checked so that could be a bug or a 24H2 incompatibility,

This is what I get on my system on Win11 24H2.

To the Start11 Developers

Please integrate drag-and-drop, it's a bit annoying if you have to search for the software, in start11(modern menu) click on the first shortcut to get it on the desktop, or directly in the Object Dock 3.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Do know that there is two section you will need to setup for rounded taskbar, refer screenshot below. Each has it own rounded corner setting. Have you setup both?

Thank you.

Stardock Community Assistant.

Yes, I'm aware of this option. However, this doesn't seem to work quite right. It works while tiling, but after the windows have been arranged it falls back to rounded mode.

I'm currently working around this by using the padding option:

This at least doesn't overlap. I think that the Dropdown from the first screenshot should have another entry, something like: "Adjust settings for the taskbar when there is a tiled window adjacent to the taskbar"

Some more pictures for context

Hi All, Looking for some support here :)

Issue: Programs Only Open with "Run as Administrator" in Start11 Menu

Since a recent Windows update, I can no longer launch apps directly from my Start11 menu with a single click. Previously, clicking an app would open it immediately. Now, I need to Right Click > More > Run as Administrator to start any program.

Current Setup:

  • Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
  • Version: 23H2 (OS Build 22635.4371)
  • Start11 Version: 2.11 (Windows Insider detected)

Attempts to Fix:

  • Reinstalling Start11
  • Running Start11 as Admin
  • Compatibility mode (Windows 7/8)
  • Using "Software Delayer" with Highest Privileges
  • Setting apps to "Run as Administrator" for all users

Any advice or fixes would be greatly appreciated! Simple clicks just aren't working anymore.

Issue: Programs Only Open with "Run as Administrator" in Start11 Menu

I am also running Windows 11 Pro, 22635.4371 with Start11v2 ver. 2.11, and I don't have this issue. So you can rule out the Windows Update as the cause. What else might have changed?

Have you changed any Group Polices?

If you have a Start11 Settings Backup file, you could try restoring your settings, and see if that helps.

EDIT: There is a new Windows Beta out today (22635.4435), and maybe this might shake something loose for you.

Description of problem:  Inconsistent, often slow, display of start menu items.

Start11 2.11 with Windows 11 Version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.2033)

I'm using the "Modern Style" start menu but see the problem in all of the styles.

Often when I open the start menu program items are not populuated in the left column (Modern Style) which should show pinned and Most Recently used programs.  The "All Programs" and "Universal applications" submenus work fine as does search.  If I wait a while (1 minute) with the start menu open, it sometimes shows the required content.

I can close and open the start menu repeatedly and sometimes the content shows, then disappears, then shows, the disappears.

Sometimes this                                                                          Sometimes this.

Start 10 and 11 did used to work fine on my machine so I don't think it's down to the number of sheer number of start menu items (about 900).  I also don't believe the problem was introduced with 24H2 but can't be sure.

I've tried uninstalling, rebooting, installing 2.11 as adminstrator.  No change.

Have you seen anything like this

Right click does not work for any pinned apps in the taskbar.

Start11 version 2.11

If you have the taskbar at the top, you have to use the Enhanced taskbar for the right-click context menu's to work.
