Do you have autohide set to reserve space or not in Start11 settings?

Yeah i do. It will only reduce how often the problem occurs. Enabling the Nvidia GeForce Experience in-game overlay is known to cause this problem with Windows auto-hide (and i have it enabled), so it could also be affecting the Enhanced Taskbar, but i also remember having this problem with Windows auto-hide long before GeForce Experience existed.

Quoting rege0036,

Hi,

As in last version when using this to enhance the taskbar the system taskbar option for the position of the start button will not stay as centred, it always switches back to left aligned. Soon as I turn off the option in Start 11 to enhance the taskbar I can set it to centred and it will stay there.

This interferes with another utility, Everything Taskbar, meaning it's box is left aligned.

Is there a reason why it does this can can it be stopped ?

This isn't new, this has been how Start11 works since day one.

You can set a centred taskbar in Start11 itself from the start button page.

I realise I can set the start button to be centered in Start11, however that's not the point.

The question is why does using the enhanced option alter the system taskbar settings so that it that the system taskbar can not be set to left when when that has no bearing on what happens in Start11 but does alter what happens to other utlities.

It has no effect on what happens to START11 so can it just leave the sytem alone ?

Is something going to be done about the Object Desktop manager telling me to download an update to Start 11 V2 all the time?

I have version 2.07, the latest version.

Because it does have an impact on things in Start11 when the enhanced taskbar is on.

Thats why we override it, but this isn't new.  This is how it has always worked.

Start11 2.0.7.3
Enhanced Taskbar + auto-hide
Windows 11 build 22631.3235

1. Some times the Taskbar window thumbnail previews do not disappear and permanently remain visible. But placing the cursor over the thumbnail will make it disappear. So to make it happen you just need to avoid touching the thumbnail when you move the cursor away from the Taskbar. Restarting Explorer will fix the problem until it randomly occurs again. It once happened immediately after restarting Windows, on the Desktop with just a browser open. But most of the time it takes hours before it starts happening.

2. With any style that displays the power button, if it is clicked on and you then click anywhere else on the Start11 menu, the power button highlight will remain visible. It's really obvious with a colourful Windows theme like the orange below.

Start11 2.0.7.3
Windows 11 Build 22631.3235

Quoting Yellowcat56,

Resolved dragging items on ‘all apps’ list causing accidental temporary pins

Dragging all apps list items no longer leaves highlight sometimes

Resolved blank line on the screen when maximized and reserving screen space with autohide taskbar

Dragging ‘all apps’ list items no longer shows an enlarged icon in error sometimes.

I can confirm that all these issues i reported are now fixed!

And here's some problems with the Enhanced Taskbar (not specific to 2.0.7.3):

1. Sometimes the Taskbar will become lighter/grey until you click on it again, then it will go back to normal. This happens with maximised windows but there doesn't seem to be a way to reliably replicate it. Doing something like opening a browser and spamming the mouse button on that window in the Taskbar will usually make it happen, eventually... Or sometimes it will just quickly flash this lighter colour instead.

2. As others have mentioned, with maximised windows the auto-hide Taskbar sometimes doesn't appear. It happens more often with browsers and things like Adobe software. But this isn't specific to Start11, because Windows has had this problem going all the way back to Vista or earlier. So it would be great if Start11 could FINALLY fix what Microsoft can't. There's a small progam called RudeWindowFixer that will 99.9% fix this problem. So it can still happen, but it's becomes extremely rare to the point that it's no longer an issue. The program seems to work with the Enhanced Taskbar (i haven't been able to make it happen so far...). Could you implement something similar into Start11?

I think the first of those is an issue with how Windows paints blurred areas as sometimes it gets confused and forgets to repaint it.

On the second point, autohide is only supposed to work if the application that is foreground has a titlebar.  If the window does not have one as fullscreen modes in web browsers and adobe apps then the taskbar will not appear on top as the app is the same as a game at that point and having an autohide taskbar pop over a non exclusive mode fullscreen game would be a problem.

They're not using any type of fullscreen mode though, like borderless or exclusive mode. It happens with literally any maximised windows. So anything can stop the Taskbar from appearing, including File Explorer if it is a maximised window.

From looking at this explanation on the RudeWindowFixer GitHub page the problem is caused by transparent fullscreen windows. So one example would be the Geforce Experience in-game overlay, which uses a transparent fullscreen window that is constantly open even when a game is not running. Obviously you can't see this window, it's hidden from the user, but it's always there and messing up the Taskbar auto-hide functionality. I previously used RudeWindowFixer with Win10 with a stock Start menu/Taskbar for about a year, but after using it for a few days with Win11 + Start11 it definitely also works with this, including the Enhanced Taskbar auto-hide. The Taskbar always appears now. It would be a very nice feature if Start11 included a fix like this because this isn't some niche thing. Tons of people have this auto-hide problem with Windows. Like i say, it's been happening since at least Vista. Posts about it on Microsoft's own Feedback Hub app often get thousands of upvotes, but MS never fix it, yet some random guy made a nice little free fix. RWF runs in the background but uses less than 1MB and has no noticeable CPU load.

The following problem occurs to me:

Win 11 does not adopt the settings from Start11, it remains with the standard Windows user interface.

No setting of Start11 has any effect to the system but the activation of the seconds in the clock e.g.o_O

What I tried:

- Uninstalled 2.07 and reinstalled it, several times

- Uninstalled 2.07 and installed 2.06

- Did 2 times an Inplace Upgrade, also with an uninstalled Start11

--> nothing helped.

Is there a tip what else I can do?

Thanks in advance!

如果使用增强任务栏的话就会变成下面这样:

If use the enhanced taskbar, it will look like this

The first GIF in the reply above is a demo with the enhanced Taskbar not turned on, as you can see, when I drag and drop a URL into another browser window it switches to that window so that I can drag and drop the URL directly into the address bar and the second GIF is when I use the enhanced Taskbar it doesn't automatically switch to another browser window

Will optimization be carried out for this situation? When will the optimized new version be released?

I have to say I can confirm this.

Drag and drop doesn´t work as it should.

Our products should not be impacted by this.

Fixed focus remaining on shutdown and logout buttons once menu was opened via clicking

Resolved taskbar autohide hiding when the taskbar thumbnail or right click menu are open

Can confirm that these issues are now fixed.

And i've found two more things:

1. Enable the Enhanced Taskbar auto-hide and then go to Settings backup > Reset settings. The Taskbar will no longer appear even when the Windows key is pressed. Restarting Explorer will fix it.

2. With the Windows 11 style or Windows App style, if you do a search by clicking on the Start11 button and start typing, the shortcut buttons on the same row as the Power button will disappear. But these buttons will remain visible with the Windows 10 style. I'm guessing this isn't intentional because there's no reason to do this as far as i can see.

Why do other products seemingly have a target on their back while Start11 doesn't?

Start11 doesn't rely on old Windows 10 code that still resides in the Registry of Windows 11. Microsoft is on the path to cleaning out this old code in future iterations of Windows.

Our app works differently.  We opted to work differently for this very reason.
