I have been searching around my settings for a while and can not find any controls whatsoever for [Taskbar Icon Underline]

My Menu is for [Taskbar Menu Text] not [Taskbar Icon Underline]. Is this a difference between Windows 10 and 11 or am I missing the location of this menu option?

Additionally, without access to that menu my taskbar color for the underline is that same with enhanced or not enhanced.

There aren't any existing settings. This was a mock up for suggesting a setting.

Windows 11 - 22635.2700; Start11v2 - 2.0.0.5

When the taskbar is enhanced, the active app taskbar icon underline is gray, which is really hard to see on darker taskbar colors. (Below)

When the taskbar is not enhanced, he active app taskbar icon underline adopts a shade of the Windows accent color. (Below)

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. And now I have installed 2.0.0.5 and still experiencing this issue. Since no one else is having this issue, I'm guessing it's probably related to my version of Windows. Version 22635.2700 seems to be having issues with the Windows Accent color panel in the Windows settings. However, that doesn't explain why the taskbar button underline is correct in the unenhanced taskbar. Where is Start11v2 getting the info for this color, and is it different for the enhanced taskbar?

pelaird I have figured it out.

There is a change in the taskbar underline in the following settings

start menu > configure menu > customize visual appearance > change start menu colours

when you configure either [use automatic color] or select item accent colour the color of the underline changes with it

otherwise it is grey when using Windows color scheme which is a possible bug.

*also note the word "color" is spelled two different ways on this menu*

Thank you for taking the time to figure this out.

It seems the reason the underline was gray was due to my "Picked Color" being gray. If I change the "Picked Color" to say pink, the the underline changes to a pink or magenta color and the Start menu background color is  also now pink. As soon as I turn on "Use automatic color," the underline uses the Windows Accent color, and the Start menu background uses a dark gray color (RGB 32, 32, 32). But that still doesn't explain why, regardless of the setting, without "enhancing" the taskbar the color of the underline is correct. I'll have to experiment more with this setting.

I'm not quite sure how this setting was designed to work. Maybe Neil can explain this?

Hi

Some feedback regarding v2.05:

I am using start menu 'Windows 11 style'  on an existing Windows 11 Pro 22H2 installation.

1. 'Show recently added apps' does not work in this release and hasn't with any previous versions

2. 'Show recent documants' has just started working with this release, but it is limited to just showing the last two documents

3. Regarding 'Show recently added apps' again - I am unable to move this onto another page

Does anyone else get freezing/crashing behavior on Start 11 v2 Beta 2.05 when switching desktops (Win+Tab, select a different desktop) on Win 11 23H2 with enhanced Taskbar on? I am experiencing that.

On my PC, the window that is in the topmost position on the screen uses the accent color, but all the other windows have a lighter shade of blue than the accent color I have defined, which is a dark shade of blue. I like how it works this way.

I have been testing Start11v2, especially the "Enhanced taskbar" extensively for the last couple of days. Today while testing, I ran into an issue with Microsoft PowerToys, Fancy Zones. A few times the bottoms of my zones were pushed down from their set location about an 1/8" above the taskbar, to touching the taskbar. Another time, the bottoms of my zones were pushed up about an 1-1/2" above the taskbar. I'm not sure exactly what process caused this to happen, but each time it was after changing Start11 settings over and over in one session.

Are you perhaps using the various modes for rounded taskbar?  One mode will expand the taskbar reserved space, another will shift it.

No. This did not happen when rounded taskbar was enabled, but a few times the taskbar shrunk vertically and shifted above the bottom of the screen when changing back and forth between different settings within the Enhanced taskbar settings panel. I'll try to reproduce this tomorrow.

Just to double check. There are two [when rounded taskbar] is [enabled] check marks. One is for [no maximised windows] and the other is for [maximized] windows. I bring this up because there have been several times my mouse wheel changes settings that I do not mean to change.

This brings me to my bug findings. The microsoft app 'game bar' always opens in the [maximized windows] settings. It is possible power toys and fancy zones have the same behavior

The situation where the Fancy Zones bottoms of my zones are pushed down to touching the taskbar seems to be caused by switching the Taskbar button style from windows 11 to Windows 10 and then back to Windows 11. Restarting Explorer fixes it. Haven't figured out the cause for pushing them up.

I have a few questions and suggestions regarding Start11 v2.

First and foremost, I'd like to express my appreciation for the software and the team. The team has done an incredible job with this version 2 and they should be proud of what they have created. Usually, we only come to the forums with problems and not with praise. I've been very critical of the software but the positives of the software far outweigh the negatives and I believe it's important to highlight this.

1. Filtered folders -  I have a folder containing several .exe files. I have selected this folder through the menu and have tried various Inclusion Regex Rules, such as \.exe, .exe, *.exe, exe, **, and *, but none of them seems to work. When I click on the rectangle I do see, nothing happens other than it turning from blue to black. If you look closely, you can see an "Access denied" message. I've attached a screenshot below to show it.

2. What does "Show folders as submenus" mean? I don't find any difference one way or the other.

3. All apps -I'm facing an issue with the "All apps" folder on my taskbar. Initially, it works fine and I can navigate through it without any problems. However, after some time it stops working and I only see a quick glimpse of the "loading" symbol when I click on the folder before it disappears and nothing happens. I can switch to another style and back to Modern with icons, which is the one I prefer and it will begin working again but just for a short time, same as before.

4. The start menu freezes and crashes a lot like the one above mentioned. Just the normal navigation of moving the mouse from one folder to another is what usually causes it for me. The start menu will freeze and the task bar too and eventually crash and it looks like Windows Explorer gets reloaded.

5. The way the navigation of files and folders works - The way it's set up now, it seems like you have to go all the way to the end of the folder path before you can click on anything. It would be much better if you could click on a folder or file right away, no matter where you are in the folder tree. I haven't actually tried clicking on files early though, since I'm more interested in getting into folders directly. It would be very nice as well if we could choose another file manager than File Explorer.

6. Curious as to why some folders with menus we can pin to the start menu don't navigate all the way through the directory path while some do. Here is a screenshot to illustrate.

You can see in the screenshot above that the Downloads folder has underneath it the folders in the black area that have small arrows to the right of them indicating they can expand for further navigation.

This screenshot displays the Documents folder. The folders shown, including the one highlighted in blue, have additional files and folders within them, but they don't have the small arrow indicating that they can be expanded for further navigation. Is this a bug?

I look forward to hearing your feedback.

Windows pro style menu Bug and suggestions

Bug - Show recently installed apps keeps enabling itself in the All Apps Menu

Suggestion - An option to simply delete a folder or file from the All Apps menu (as seen in the other start menu's)
Suggestion - Option to lock the menu size so i cant hover on the edge of the start menu to drag it wider and taller once setup how i want it
Suggestion - Option to have all folders at the bottom or top in the All Apps menu instead of mixed in with the A-Z

This is the same on my system for the Documents folder. However, if you add your "User" folder as a menu, and then click the User icon on the Start11 menu, then hover over the Documents folder, you can navigate through all the subfolders. I'm not sure why this doesn't work for the Documents folder as a menu.

Little cosmetic bug: Tray-Button cut off on the left. The orgional Win 11 button has round corners on both edges.

Bug? Some selections around the active tiles are rounded, others are angular. No recognisable pattern.
