Latest release which I installed yesterday has completely broken fences for me, I can't create new fences, all of my old fences aren't there. Windows Version 10.0.19041 Build 19041. I can open up the fences settings but it does nothing, restoring from snapshot doesn't fix the issue either. Is there a way to downgrade versions?

Well that was a mistake. The resulting file opened to constant flashing. I give up.

Windows 10 Pro version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1165)

The Icon is not rendering properly. Text of Icons in Folder Portals vanished after updating to 3.10 or later version (includes version 3.13) , but shadow of the text still remains, don't know why. I'm still staying at version 3.09 to avoid this bug 

P.S.  I can only show you guys this odd, blurred picture shot by my phone, not because I don't know how to make a screen cut. When I use any screen cut app, the text comes back, I can only get a normal pic, still don't know why.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. This is a known issue, just as a test, turn off HDR on your monitor setting and see if it resolve the issue.

Where can I get 3.09?  I need to go back because I'm constantly getting the windows explorer closed improperly message.  Anyhow, I just want 3.09 again.

Does anyone else have an issue with their taskbar icons' drop down menus not showing unless you disable Fences? I've also been having troubles with alt tab - when I do so, the application shows up for a split second before disappearing. (I'm trying to play Genshin Impact in fullscreen and alt tabbing from the game to Discord was a challenge. I had to minimize Discord first before going back to the game) 

Each day I receive a pop-up message indicating an update is available to Fences, even though I updated the first time it appeared.  When I manually checked for updates, the indication came back that Fences was up to date, i.e. version 3.1.3.3.

My Windows version is 20H2, OS build 19042.1165

Please advise a possible solution or let me know if you would like further information.

Hi I am having similar issues to others. I can not see the desktop, no icons, no fences. If is click and drag i can not make a window. If i right click it is asif fences isnt running.

I have tried purge, and uninstalling via Steam, with no luck. i tried to uninstall following the file location, and it says that the lua5.1.dll was not found even though i can see the file. I tried to run the the app and it brings up the fences tool, but still no access to my desktop. 

When i have used purge and unistalled, i tried to delete the applications file and it said that rundll32 was running and it was an open process.

any help appreciated

Create a new Windows 10 admin account:

While still under the new admin account, reinstall the Steam version of Fences.

If working, you can log out of the new admin account and log back under your normal one and have Fences working.  If it is, you can delete the new admin account.

After upgrading, I have a nagging "Create Fence here" popup anytime my mouse hovers in a certain point, near the center of my screen.  I have tried modifying the options under Enable fences (right click, left click, or both).  I have tried Disabling Fences.  No matter what, this popup is always there.  I have even tried clicking either option "Create Fence here" or "Create Folder Portal here", thinking if once I did, it might clear whatever is happening.  But, that did not work either. 

This is more than a nuisance, because the popup is often in the way when I am working.

In the screenshot below, I opened Notepad and maximized it to take up the entire desktop.  Then I moved my mouse (not clicking any buttons) towards the problem area, and you can see the popup appears.

If you go to WinExp \ Desktop, how many icons do you have on your desktop?

When I first did the update a month ago, I lost all my fences. when I complained the update appeared to revert to 3.09 and I am keeping it that way until I am assured I can update to 3.13 without a problem. I may not be explaining this correctly but I do want to keep 3.09 without the 3.13 popup continually happening.
