Compatibility issue with an app?

Compatibility issue with an app?

Please let us know

If you have compatibility issues with WindowBlinds and an application or game, please do let us know in this thread so we can investigate it and hopefully resolve the problem.

Please make sure you are running the latest version of WindowBlinds first and that the problem exists with a theme included with WindowBlinds vs a downloaded one.

Please provide as much detail as you can, screenshots of the problem, information on the application itself, how to reproduce the problem and if possible dmp files from any crashes.

The information on the about WindowBlinds page and information on your setup would be helpful too.

Windows 10 Pro x64 Insider Build 16241.1001 + WindowBlinds 10.62

Firefox x64 54.0.1 won't run. Have to set WindowBlinds not to skin it. I look on task manager and it runs in background for a second then firefox disappear from task manager. Firefox x64 54.0.1 worked with WindowBlinds on Windows 10 x64 Build 15063.483. I fresh installed Windows 10 Insider.

Windows 10 Pro x64 1703 15063.483 (Official not insider) with WindowBlinds 10.62

MKVToolNix v14.0 x64 version.

Problems when resizing the window size of the program, the frames/borders it gets messed up.

so i tried included stardock skins "Modern", and "Corporate" and same problem.

Former versions of MKVToolNix worked just fine with WB.

I noticed that no chrome variants work. I have to turn off glass for them. Namely, Epic Browser and slimjet browser. Chrome does work.

Hello,

I have detected some compatibilty issues when running WindowBlinds 10 (Version 10.62) on Windows 10 Creators Update (Windows 10 Pro 1703, x86-64, Version 10.0.15063.483):

1. WindowBlinds 10 (Version 10.62) is active:

2. Theme Win8 by Stardock with substyle Win8 (Vista) is selected and successfully activated:

2. a) Incompatibilty with Microsoft Edge

The built-in Microsoft Edge browser seems not to be compatible with this skin. When the skin is active, the skin is applied to the browser as espected.

Active Window:   Inactive Window:

But in this case, the browser is very slow and unstrable. Also, the Windows operating system is very busy, and the reaction time has a lot of latencies (please see the screenshot below).

The Edge browser cannot be used with this skin because it is blocking itselve and very slow. So, I have decided to exclude Edge from skinning by using the specific settings page of WindowsBlinds:

But this workaround does not work; the skin remains active. Consequence: Microsoft Edge cannot be un-skinned although the program rsp. application "MircrosoftEdge.exe" is excluded.

2. b) Unwanted blur effect on other virtual Windows 10 Desktops, when Sticky Notes is running and displayed on one of the desktops

For example, a Sticky Notes window is opened on Desktop 1:

In this case, this area is displayed on all the other dektops (e.g. on Desktop 2 or 3) as partially blurred. This is exactly the area which is covered by Sticky Notes on Desktop 1.

2. c) Temporarily Title Bar Transparency without Blur effect

In this theme the windows title bars should get transparency with blur effect. In general, it works as espected. But...

... sometimes it is not as espected. As you can see in the screen snapshot above there is fully transparency within the window title bar and no blur effect, which should have been activated automatically by selection of this skin and its substyle. I have experienced, that this occurs, if you switch switch between virtual Windows 10 desktops. For Example: After switching from Desktop 1 to Desktop 2, all inactive windows tiltle bars are fully transparent - also the active title bar of the activated window. Only after clicking on this window the blur effect returns (see the following screen capture).

3. Mozilla Firefox Title Bar without Title Text (Title Bar is empty):

Please see the screen capture with the skinned Mozilla Firefox window below:

As you can see, the title bar of the Firefox browser is empty. No title bar text is displayed. Normally, it should be displayed with this following title bar text (by using the default skin of Windows 10):

Are these issures already addressed to you? I yes, do you have any solutions or workarounds? If no, it will be great, if you will review it in order to provide a solution for WindowBlinds 10. Thank you in advance!

I am using the 30 day trial software to evaluate, downloaded as of 18AUG17.   Windows 10 Education version 15063.540

Window Blinds 10.62 (044 - Windows 10 Edition 64Bit)

The Diamond Theme default is used (came with the trial software).  When I use it, it's fine, except when I maximize a window, then it goes to the system color, and all transparency is lost at the top.

This also affects Chrome as well as all Explorer windows.  When they are not maximized, they return to their normal transparency configuration.

TL;DR How can I make the maximized window show transparency?

I don't think Windowblinds can unless otherwise;that's limitation of it or intention.

Thats a design choice in the skin rather than a limitation of WindowBlinds.

Other skins will not have that problem.

Hi, I'm having a crash in digital audio software REAPER:  https://www.reaper.fm/download.php

It occurs when maximizing the MIDI editor window: http://imgur.com/a/YYpRh

It's fixed when I disable titlebar skinning for the app: http://imgur.com/a/mZZkU

But this looks bad and breaks the functionality of the popup windows: http://imgur.com/a/JcYD7   .. it should ask if I want to save or no

Using REAPER x64, occurs on latest stable and latest development build

Happens using my personal theme and the preinstalled ones on latest 64 WindowBlinds release.

Windows 10 64, Version 1607, Intel i7-6700, GTX 1070

I am using Windows 10 Pro, latest update to the creators edition, as well as the latest updated version of windowblinds. The problem I am having is that since the creators update none of the themes that come with the app will work on any of the Window Store apps. The title bar at the top of the apps does not show and hence you cannot close the app or move back from one window to another. At times the store app will freeze while opening requiring a complete reboot of the computer. These things happen even if you try to exclude the app from the windowblinds program. The only store app that is not affected is the Edge browser. All other store apps that come with the OS are. This includes the settings folder as well and whether one is in tablet mode or not. All the other programs in Object Desktop work as they should. I had to uninstall Windowblinds in order to return all to normal. I am running on an MSI GE72 Apache Pro laptop with 16GB DDR4 Ram, Intel I7 6700HQ, Nvidia 970 graphics driver with 3GB DDR5 dedicated Ram.

I have issue with Firefox. How to fix it?

Check the screenshot it looks so messed up and firefox is unsusable.

lol yeah I had that too. Nasty problem, but you can fix it by clicking on the menu button over on the far right side of the app, it's the three parallel lines. Then click on "Customize." At the botton left of the screen there is a check box titled "Title Bar." If you select that, it should fix your issue. Worked for me anyway.

Good luck.

I just tried to use this to skin my windows to something more classic.

It nearly trashed my machine, nothing would open, and even task manager couldn't open the 'run' dialog to let me get the windows shell or command window open to do anything. I got lucky to find an account that had NOT been opened since the last major windows update, opened that, still the system was black and not responsive but in that case I was able to kill the windows blind service (I couldn't with the other one, the task manager was too messed up) enough to get services to run just long enough to disable the windows blind service and restart then I could uninstall.

So I had to uninstall the app, it apparently is totally broken with the current windows 10.

And dangerous, anyone less determined would have had to reformat the system or do some sort of BIOS recovery option, this program is maybe way too dangerous to use if it can get the computer into that state.

I am sorry to hear you had problems however the current version of WindowBlinds IS compatible with the current version of Windows 10.  That is assuming you are defining current Windows 10 as release build and not an insider release of Windows 10 which we have not performed any compatibility testing with.

The most likely explanation is the version you used of WindowBlinds was considerably older than the current release.  Where and when did you obtain it?

To stop WindowBlinds running you can hold down ctrl at login which will prevent it applying any skins in that user session.

The game "Call of Duty - Black Ops 3" crashes immediately, if WindowBlinds is loaded.

Hey , i just bought Object Desktop and i got several programs acting weird.

I have a definite and reproducible problem with WindowBlinds 10 on Windows 10 Pro, 1709 [OS Build 16299.98] and Visual Studio (in my case VS2017 15.4.5, but older versions/pre-VS Update also had the same issue). I only have VS2017 on this computer, so I don't have other versions to compare.

If WindowBlinds is enabled, Visual Studio does not launch in a usable way. VS comes up as an empty black window that is completely unusable. I have uninstalled/reinstalled Visual Studio several times. I have reinstalled Windows 10 twice in the past two weeks. VS works fine until I install WindowBlinds 10, at which point it stops being usable.  Before I caved and completely (fresh) reinstalled the Windows 10 OS, VS2017 not only would come up in an unusable black window, it would also crash within about 10 seconds. After reinstalling Windows, VS doesn't crash, but as mentioned above, can't be used if WindowBlinds is loaded.

Adding a "per-application do-not-skin-at-all" exclusion for devenv.exe in WindowBlinds settings does not fix this issue and did not have any perceivable effect even before reinstalling the OS, and still no change after the reformat/reinstall of Windows.

Completely unloading WindowBlinds does fix it so that I can use Visual Studio, but of course, prevents me from being able to use WindowBlinds, which is one of the two main reasons why I pay for the OD subscription; the other is Start10, which does not have any detrimental effect that I have noticed.

Any ideas on a fix for this? Any special settings, workarounds besides unloading WB?

OS: Windows 10/1709 16299.98

WB: 10.65 (048 - Windows 10 Edition) - 64 bit OS

qBittorrent: 4.0.2 (x64)

QBittorrent has problem with Windowblinds. Problem is quite obvious and reproducible with every skin I tried by resizing qBittorrent main window.
