Not a real biggie, but I can't seem to get the WB icon in the system tray/notification area.  The check box for that option in settings doesn't "stick." Win10, latest WB10 version.
This has been adressed many times already.

-It will have been corrected in the upcoming version. |-)

I recall windows blinds from a very long time ago. I have start 8 but start 10 didn't seem like a real win, especially since you have always been able to add a 'toolbar' folder that points to c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs and have the 'program files' menu back.

I like Deskscapes. I don't think I want all the clutter of the object desktops but will try Windows Blinds for Win10 when available.

Is there a rough ETA?

This is the last thing said about the next update. Still sounds like it will be a beta version.

This is a known issue on Windows 10 with the December build of WB10.  Later internal builds have been adjusted to resolve this problem.  I have been pushing for a beta update and am unsure what the delay is right now.

Is anyone else using Windows 10 getting an error when trying to apply skin such as the following:

"Windowblinds 10 does not appear to be installed correctly on this computer...would you like to fix this issue now?"

Do you use ESET AV?

Neil, if there is a problem with WB and ESET and you need to pass on a message to them please feel free to let me know: I'm on their beta tester's mailing list, which gives me privileged access to them.

I love  Object DT....and have had it for almost 10 years, but disappointed that they would release a WB10 in Beta that does not install correctly in W10. This release should have fixed most issues...especially compatibility issues.

Most people are not having an issue. The developer has asked if you are using a specific security program that might be affecting it.

I think we have contacted them before, but if you are able to that would be most helpful.

My pleasure!

Can you please send me a PM with the description of the problem you want me to pass on to them?

I am using ESET Security as my AV. Is that a known issue? Also wondering if my current build of W10 is an issue. I am a W10 Insider evaluator. My current build is Windows 10 Insider Preview 14271.

WB10 gives the following error when trying to apply a skin:

"It appears that WB10 is not installed correctly on your machine...would you like to fix this issue now?"

It does not fix the issue! Have restarted, run Compatibility troubleshooter, uninstalled and reinstalled and temporarily disabled ESET AV.

Running Windows 10 Insider Preview 14271

Yes.  This fixes it, including on Win10:

That resolved my issue..I had already tried that for WBconfig.exe.and that did not work...I was on the right path, but needed the correct file to add to ESET.

Thanks a million DaveRI

So I have posted a few bugs when I was on the Stardock forum. Here's what I had to say.

Firefox could use a Stardock extension to work around the lack of theming in the program

SumatraPDF is glitched

Adobe Reader ignores styles

LibreOffice has issues unless HW acceleration is disabled

Theme Manager and Iconpackager have problems, specifically Iconpackager failing to revert default icons

DeskScapes stay paused when changing desktops from a maximized window

Vitalsource Bookshelf loses it's control bar when maximized

So it's still beta, but overall, it is a nice product which is a major improvement over the ugly windows 10 black and white color scheme.

Edit: New glitch found in the control panel, look for text on the left of the control panel.

Look at the left of the image

If I just buy windows blinds now will I be able to use the beta and use it on windows 10 or will I have to buy it again (like they did with the start menu) when they release the windows 10 version?

Thanks.

The Windowblinds version for purchase isn't for Windows 10. You need the beta version that is only available to Object Desktop subscribers.

To answer your question if you buy WB now you don't want to install it on Windows 10. When you do purchase a stand alone program and a new final (not beta) version comes out you are entitled to it for 30 days after your original purchase.

To sum it up. If you want it for Win 10 now you have to subscribe to Object Desktop for a year and start with the available beta. Otherwise if you purchase WB now you can't use it on Win 10 now and if it's over 30 days before the final version comes out you will have to pay again.

So far, I bought ObjectDesktop and am pretty satisfied with the experience. Of course the beta has some glitches here and there, but it really makes Windows 10 look a lot nicer than it does with the basic theme. Wobbly Windows on WindowFX with a Dreamscene on Deskscapes and a kickass theme on WindowBlinds 10 and Start10 plus SpaceMonger make it worthwhile.

I would like Theme Manager to come back so we can have more complete themes that cover everything from icons to cursorfx, which unfortunately has also not received the Windows 10 update treatment, but overall, it is a very nice package for about the price of a AAA game, which Stardock is a part of as well, but you'll probably get more use time out of this than 1 game.

HELP!!! Well finally took the plunge and bought object desktop, several apps wont even try to install on win 10, but thats ok

several of the apps ask for product id numbers but none provided, win 10 after three tries with defender and other security programs disables the interface loads but not able to install error states to try to fix, no joy also when 1st installed asked for prod id for win 10, i dont have, when tried to load objectdesktop control shows nothing installed even though  theme manager is loaded and working as is cursor fx.  WHY would Stardock just throw this out there with no instructions, if win 10 doesn't work then its useless to me and I shall demand a refund and truly just give up on stardock PERIOD. This issue has wasted a lot of time and caused a lot of frustration, this isn't fun anymore now its drudgery. Please help. Any advice would be most welcomed.

Please help.

Your post has been edited by a Moderator to remove your Product Key.  Do not post your Product Key.

Not all of the programs included in Object Desktop are compatible with Win10.  The site pages for the individual programs indicate the versions of Windows on which they run.  There's also a consolidated list here:

https://forums.wincustomize.com/469524/page/1/

If an individual program is not listed as compatible with Win10, do not attempt to install it.  If you have already managed to install some that are listed as "not compatible", it might be best to contact support here https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit and ask them about uninstalling before you attempt it, particularly if you have installed Icon Packager.

Hope this helps.

I suggest you ignore Control Center and download the exe's directly from here (where you pulled your screenshot):
https://store.stardock.com/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/myaccount/products

On that page is also the single Object Desktop Product Key, that is the registration number you will need to enter into each of the Object Desktop programs you install.  If you click on the key while on that page, it should copy it to the clipboard so that you can paste it into a text file or such.  I believe the point at which you're prompted for it may vary from program to program - during installation, the first time you run it, or the first time you try to change a skin.  Install a program with your antivirus temporarily disabled.  If and only if you run ESET antivirus you will need to follow these instructions for only Windowblinds, otherwise you can ignore this link:

https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Knowledgebase/Article/View/424/124/windowblinds-states-that-windowblinds-is-not-installed-correctly-on-this-pc

Again, I urge you to adhere to the Win10 compatibility list I linked in Reply #397.

Keep the files you download and back them up along with the Product Key.  If your subscription expires you can no longer download the programs but you can re-install them if necessary provided you have kept your downloads and the Product Key.

Hopefully that will get you going so that you can get to the fun part.  I'm sorry, but this is entirely the wrong thread for this discussion and I won't be continuing it here.  Should you run into more specific issues with a particular program you can start a new thread in the Support Forum https://forums.wincustomize.com/forum/165

or https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit.

Latest Google Chrome 49.0.2623.87 seems to be crazy broken if you try and skin it with Windowblinds in Windows 10, corrupt page rendering, random triangles over things! Adding an exception does cure it.

So far though I'm impressed, it's a shame the title bars on UWP (store apps, or whatever Microsoft is calling them this week, guess now you can download them outside the store they'll need another new name!) can't be skinned, but I've so far had NO problems with multiple monitors like on Windows/Windowblinds 8.
