Might as well fill this space up with 'useless' topics :grin: ^_^ ;P

So what are you going to name your star and what's the reason for that name (if any) ?

I'm going to name my star 'Emmen'. It's my hometown, lived here all my life and am proud of it even though most Dutch people would call it a dump.

Agreed. Hopefully only the best get into the game. I have a few ideas I'm kicking around. One example: Buckley. The name only works if the system can be programmed to be the designated victim for any improbable catastrophe that happens in the game. Two planets collide? You can bet it happened somewhere in the Buckley system. Attack of the space amoebas? Bet on it happening to one of the planets that survived the collision. The name Redshirt would work for the system as well.

Then again, I'm also hoping we get a "best of the worst" list on the forum, to get a laugh at some of the really bad submissions.

I'm going with orkesh

orcs have been kind of an ongoing gaming theme for me since i created a character for larping many many years ago

i was gonna go with orcish but thought orkesh sounded a little better

 

           orkesh is the primary star in the constellation "the orc warrior"it is supposed to symbolize strength and ferocity

the prime characteristic of "the orc warrior" are the three large green stars that appear in a triangle representing the orc's face and hands the orc is depicted as wielding an archaic sword and shield.

 

 

Btw this is mostly fluff data just to give a little more character to the star, i even went so far as to try and draw the constellation i envision but my skills with paint are horrible so im not going to look at it again

'Ku-Hull Casper'  or is that a bit longwinded. all these one word names sounds bit boring imho but each to their own. names an initial draft (thought) but along those lines, just something personal related. i'd pay a little extra for a 2nd star (hint hint, bet others would too but id agree in all names need approving/vetting before being accepted...the thoughts of Angelina Jolie 1 , Jessica Alba 3 ,hehe (shakes head) though was tempted to name after a girl i know...lol almost like those peeps who name actual stars but id have made it  sound more starry than girl's namey :) )...oh reason, err name of home city and a beloved, now deceased pet.

I previously posted elsewhere that I hadn't even thought about a name for my star; but that was a couple weeks ago and time changes things.  So, I've had plenty of time to think about it and the name I came up with is "Pulsar SKf-17".

 

Now, I don't know exactly what the plans are regarding star systems.  So, I don't know if they'll actually have Pulsars and such; but I guess (in one way or another) mine will be one (at least to me).  Thus the "Pulsar" part of the name.  As for the SKf: well, naturally, those are the initials of my Avatar (which I still don't have a picture for yet).  It may not go without saying, but the "17" is simply a number I consider lucky (at least I used to think so).

 

Hopefully everyone else likes and appreciates the name as much as I do.
