Quoting kona0197, reply 76Windows 8.1 is out and yet Windows 7 is still a better OS. Imagine that.

What device have you installed 8.1 on, or are you just posting the usual nonsense?

Yet another reason why I will wait for 9.  They already are moving up development on it.

About as popular as New Coke or Obamacare.

A lot of that is because of spin doctoring.  If you ask people which one they support, the ACA or Obamacare, the majority go with the ACA, which is the same... damn... thing.

One of my magazine editors tries every two-to-three months to get me to review peripherals and software for Win8. I tell him, no. He's already let slip that no other reviewers on staff want to install the OS, and I'm solidly among them.

I may be aging, and hardly gracefully, but I'm not senescent, yet.

EDIT: If this offends any Win8 users, just figure I don't understand all the joy, colors, and sweetness that it has, because I'm evil.

That says what exactly?   Even in the comments to the article itself there is some evidence that points to a specific mouse (Razer) as one that is having issues.  So?  Performance enthusiasts have always been the one's to bring 'issues' to the front.  Furthermore is this an issue with Windows specifically or is it an issue with Razer drivers or is it both?  How does that equal "....yet another reason to wait for 9 "?   Is Windows 9 going to magically not have any issues with hardware/drivers?   Right, that's because it will be Windows 9.....and we all know 9 is where it's at!  O:)

I know it's off topic but has anyone seen RedNeckDude?

As for the topic I doubt Windows 9 will be any better than 8. You can bet that 9 will be more bloated, requiring people to upgrade computers.

I can't see why any reasoning being would assume that.  7 is lighter on resources than Vista and 8 is lighter than 7.  It thus follows that if anything 9 will be lighter than 8...;)

I don't scare easily. Been here since 2004 (PuterDudeJim up to 2009), despite what it says beneath my avatar.

Kona, in a way, sorta like Jafo, I am always here. Probably always will be, unless Jafo runs me off.

Jafo, I agree. I actually like 8 for that very reason. Non metro 8, of course. 8.1 is currently my default OS. All skinning done there. DX works fine.  ;)

If SteamOS takes off, you could very well see a splint in the OS community between Linux and Windows users.
