Great trailer.  I hope the game lives up to the quality I've come to expect from Stardock!

Did not like parts of the trailer

1) Liked:

a small prologue - i hope that besides random maps there will be a single campain with a good plot and cinematics

2) Did not like:

How the battle on terrain was pictured, a single marrine got out of his capsule and took two shots at something, then another marrine took two shots at two lonely enemy soldiers (seemed to be an invasion army)... well not too epic i would say. of course it is mainly the matter of money but i would picture a full scale assult on enemy possitions with air defense shotting down arriving landing parties, then a huge wave of tanks, marrines, hellicopters piricing throught enemy defense lines.

you should realy learn from blizzard how to creat such movies. these really increase the desire to play

And that was not bad but could be better:

The disign of the ships - flying squares are not bad but in my case i would like to see something more... well may be elegant. some models looked good, but some seemed to be taken from some old fiction books.

The battle at space again could be more epic - there was no resistance for invading party, no drama. it looked like we knew how would win eventualy

make games not wa... trailers! ...and yes I am one of those freaks who "signed up" for GC3 without watching the trailer first ;P

Stardock doesn't have the experience or the resources to do something that Blizzard can afford and has been doing for along while. Blizzard quality level videos would be more than epic though.

Have you guys thought about making a Gal Civ movie?  That trailer rocks.

Stardock doesn't have the experience

That is why I give such an advice. And yes the resources do matter thought more money invested in marketing of a GOOD game really turns later a profit for the brand

GC1 and GC2 are good games, and i am afraid that nothing new will be added in GC3. My decision on purchasing the game will be mainly based on some NEW interesting features available in the game also as remaining and improving old features (such as building and constructing ships). not on the quality of the movie.

Are multiplayer and hex tiles, instead of squares, not something new?

In any case, the game has just been announced. It's a bit early to doubt, that there will be anything new, don't you think? Let's give them some time to show us what they've got.

Fantastic trailer. Really looking forward to this game. Just a couple of more teasers and I may buy the game in advance.

No. These are not any good new features, just alterations that don't introduce something new to the game. I don't care much if there are squares a hex. maps

Something new would be battle improvments with more tactics. May be dirrect unit control or more detailed planet siege (i was always wondering why it took only one turn to overtake a planet). More espionage. These are not ideas for discussion, just examples (may be not good but still exapmles)

The GalCiv series never had multiplayer before. So, how does adding it not introduce something new to the game?

Unless it is something where you can just hop in and play, it will not work for majority. These games take time to play, which is something next to impossible with random people in the internet.

True, but that is a whole other discussion of whether multiplayer adds something new, or not.

There's no reason to be disappointed in a game which is yet to be released, lets wait and see what they come up with.

I'm sure I will spend some time in the future playing it ^_^

Of course. I don't think I use the MP so much, but single player is something I'm waiting for. I wish they would make a more or less fake role playing elements to the single player game, because that helps to deepening the story and lets you think you are actually there. Imprerium Galactica 1 had such elements and it was nice, although once I actually got to the empire ruling mode I was already lost. Even some story animations and "play to unlock "-scenarios would be better than the normal "start the game -animation and go to the random galaxy" type we are so used to.

Trailers are wasted on me. I pre-ordered without even reading a word about the game. Well, one word I read: GalCiv3. That's all I neeed to know. :) Call me a fanboy, I'm OK with it. ;)

Other then that, thanks for the awesome trailer.

Where is real information on this upcoming game?

The trailer is great, but I want to know if it has Sword of the Stars level combat, or just another number crunching engine with (mark 1, mark 2, etc.) same-old-same weapon & defense systems...?

SotS is a completely different kind of game.  The worst thing they could do to galciv is turn it into a completely different game.  You might as well complain that you can't pilot fighters like a space combat sim.

Yeah. Swords of the Stars is nothing compared to GalCiv awesomeness! They won't make GalCiv a second rate strategy game, I can assure you all.

Very nice trailer. So much evolved since GCII trailers. ¿Same animators of the SoSE? Very similar shaders.

Personally, I can't imagine playing a game like this MP with strangers. I'd imagine playing it with friends co-op (we are going to support playing against random strangers too but I think the most popular way to play will be with friends).

I can't imagine having 8 friends who have the time or inclination to play a weekly regular game from start to finish, probably over several weeks.

I have to say I think you're wide of the mark there if you think people know more than a couple of other people who are prepared to play a multi-player game at the same time, outside of forum-arranged games. Forum arranged games are the norm in other deep strategy games, like Europa Universalis IV.

I volunteer for multiplayer testing duties

Having said that - getting wiped out or suffering a severe war loss will cause players to drop early...which is an issue for a competitive game. The AI taking over is of course the fallback option there.

The problem is that random people on the internet are lying, cheating, exploiting, whining little children that suck in general.  It's why I hate MP games.   Forum arranged or friend arranged games are the only way to go.  Unfortunately, no one I know would ever want to play a tbs game. :(
