I played that game to the end, yes, the 2D/3D is interesting, and yes, the gameplay is quite solid too, but the story is really MEH, and the graphics is passable only after you force antialiasing in drivers. On the other hand, the combat is horrible and broken and the animations are inferior.
But you could hardly say that the game looks better than, say Assassin's Creed 3 with TXAA enabled, or Crysis (the first one, still not gutted for consoles).
I am slightly beyond half of the game. Agreed on the gameplay/story aspect, its definitely not the best game i ever played. Actually, its relative shortness is a good thing, if it was any longer, nobody would play it to the end - its not that good, hehe. Yeah, the controls are annoying and the animations could be truly better...
but the graphics is simply superb, AA helps a great deal indeed, but its not the requirement...as the strong side here is not the technical stuff, rather the artistry...the whole 3D effect with several planes of object, blurred things closer to camera, the shadows and lightning.... i think its very well done and its a proof you can make very good looking game even without top-end tech....
And the music is brilliant as well, i got the version of the game with OST and absolutely love the main theme playing in main menu.
Bottom line, even though its not best game ever, i dont regret the money i spent on it.
