Before I check in my code, I try to do a lot of testing.  Sometimes my changes get thrown out  because they may cause incompatibility.  

But if anyone is interested in playing with my personal builds which try things like new AI techniques, performance improvements but also probably some bugs, post here.

DISCLAIMER:

This is an unofficial build. This is built on my personal machine at home. Do not report "bugs" anywhere but in this thread.

What's in it:

+ Crash fixes

+ AI more careful about going on difficult quests 

+ AI more likely to use strategic offensive spells (untested)

+ Significant performance boosts late game (but untested, may blow up your video card and harm pets)

+ Improved base frame rate on test system from 22fps to 45fps in a late game scenario.

If you are using the "unofficial" builds, please see the note in the post about the beta on reverting the main EXE to 1.00 before patching. You do not need to reinstall completely.

Frog - I've noticed that one of the most significant drops in FPS on the animated strategic map actually occurs while the MainUI_Bottom_Container is up in the bottom left corner of the screen, as something is selected.  I'm guessing this is due to the window's transparency.

Sounds like we have a naming convention going on (cute animals). I'll throw forth the following names for future builds:

*Kitty

*Ducky

*Piggy

*Chicky

*Cubby

*Fishy

and for future, really big/important releases:

*Pony

*Froggy

Kitten build is now up.  This build has all the EXE changes that have been checked in by the team plus my AI changes plus the perf changes I've been working on. It also should take care of the duplicate call to deleteallchildren (the cause of the crash).

i will say that vanilla kitten is smoother in the hour i've spent with it (that sounds so wrong :meow: ).  i will try kitten-a.

Also, with the previous build I had some spell weirdness :

-Storm and Flame wave did zilch damage

-And once a group of Darklings shamans kept casting "Coal stones" and slaughtered my group in a couple rounds !

Storm doing zilch, I think it's a visual issue.  It looks like it does 0 damage or misses, but usually one unit (which is sometimes different than what was shown to be targeted) takes the damage.

 

I suspect this issue is also with 1.00 vanilla.

Nope, it did work for me in 1.00, and now it does NOT do any damage.

for me kitten is much more stable when reloading without exiting, kitten-a always hangs when I try that.

Just had a crash. I just finished a battle with a butcherman (but in this game session I reloaded the game a few times). Here is the zip file.

Another possible bug- unsure if this is related to Hamster build or just a 1.0 bug

 

Ceresa was able to raze a city of mine immediately after capturing- I believe there's supposed to be a 5 turn rule on razing cities you just captured.

 

I had just captured one of her cities, does that counter the rule somehow?

That's a bug that has been around awhile... SD, please fix it!

What difficulty are you playing on. Maybe it is one of the ways an AI can cheat on the higher difficulties.

Throwing knives are great for bandits, but why don't they throw them when they are immediately in range. There is a time to wait and use the defense, but there is also a time to use attack. Are they just waiting for the right moment to strike with these when the defense is down (which is good), or are they just not programmed to use them with a movement.

Last thing I did was move into kraxis territory. the next turn he was probably going to kick me out. It might have been an autosave causing the problem (not sure)
