Sins: Rebellion Collector's Edition Upgade

Sins: Rebellion Collector's Edition Upgade

So I got an email about the upgrade to Sins Collector's Edition... According to the email, only 2,600 are available... and the price of the "upgrage" is $69.99 plus S/H.

I already own Rebellion on steam. Does it mean that I still have to pay $69.99 plus S/H for a toy and dog tags?

Check out what’s included below:

  • Painted Kol Battleship Model
  • Set of Rebellion dog tags
  • Metal imaged mouse pad with Rebellion artwork
  • Steelbook DVD Case with game DVD and 2 music CDs
  • Two 18x26" Rebellion posters

https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/collectorsedition?ref=sinscollectm1_topheaderimg

I checked and after taxes and shipping, the so-called "upgrade" will come to roughly $109...

Now I would be happy to own this stuff, but for at least 2x cheaper... considering I already own the game and all previous sins games.

I took it as shipping in late July.

Just a curiosity more than anything, if they are shipping g in late July, does that mean the charge will hit us in July (like a preorder), or instantly upon placing the order?

It will charge you when the order ships.

You won't be charged until it ships.

Quoting XavierMace, reply 63Quoting sporemaster, reply 61Again pre ordered in MARCH and STILL no email!  :'(

March of what year?  I placed my preorder March 8th, 2011 and received the upgrade email at 10:28 this morning.  Took about 5 tries to get the order to go through.

I really wish there was a separate Sins forum free from the people who do nothing but complain about every single thing Stardock does.  If they are treating you so poorly, why are you still here?

I don't think we're complaining, we're just anxious and excited about ordering, and want to make sure we get one of the awesome sets.  It's pretty sucky when everyone is talking about having ordered already, and you've yet to even receive an email (still haven't gotten one myself).  It's more about anxious desire than complaining.

That comment was more directed towards the people complaining about the price/contents like they are somehow being wronged because they don't like it.  "The game's still broken and you are wasting time with this!!!!!", like the programmers have been pulled away from their job to paint Kol models.  Some of those people have dozens of threads doing nothing but complaining about how the game doesn't play EXACTLY as they want it.  This is just the latest thing for them to complain about.  The price is very competitive with other Collectors Edition products.  If you don't think it's worth the price, then don't buy it, it's that simple.

I was only quoting sporemaster to point out that in the grand scheme of things, his pre-order is pretty recent since his tone (as I read it) implies that he thinks his 2012 preorder is at the top of the list.  Assuming they are sending emails in the order the preorders were placed, he's pretty far down the list.  My second preorder was on March 10th, 2012 and I haven't gotten an email on that one.  I wasn't trying to be rude, just trying to give him a realistic expectation.  If you can find the thread where they started handing out the beta invites, you can see the same pattern.

Also, I just want to say for the record regarding shipping estimates....

THE INITIAL ESTIMATE IS NOT AN ACCURATE NUMBER.  I know it's been sort of mentioned, but a good portion of the people are complaining about the shipping estimate.  Mine estimated $40 for shipping until I logged in at which point it dropped down to $11.  In regards to the international shipping charges.  I ship a great deal of stuff between Hong Kong and the US as well as inside the US.  I've yet to figure out how they calculate shipping charges because it makes no sense at all.  That said, shipping from HK to US for a package roughly this size usually runs around $40 (USD) so none of the above numbers seem that crazy.  I also know shipping between US and Canada is ridiculously expensive considering the minimal extra distance.

Thank you, Yarlen, for the quick response. I am one of those that prefers physical media and am very happy that it is the game. on a disc.

I have one more question about the collector's edition. It said in the pre-order email that they will be shipping in late-July. Is this dash to signify that they will be shipping out late this month and into July or they will be shipping in late July?

No, at the earliest they'll be shipping in late-July.  The creation of the Kol models has taken much longer than anticipated, so we're still waiting on delivery for those.

Blazewamp - It looks like you ordered it. You can email [email protected] to cancel, however.

I don't care to have any of the other stuff, but could I just buy the model? Or maybe a kit/nonpainted one? :)

If such a possibility exists e-mail me.

Danno, you could probably get one on Ebay or Craigslist in a few weeks

ORDERED! Big thank you to yarlen for the assist!

Zomg....I have the game already and played it in beta.

So can someone boil this down for me?  I want the collectors edition stuff like the battleship and all that, but I already have the game.  What do i do to get the ancillary stuff, and what will the cost be?

It is $70 to upgrade to the collector's edition, around you to ship in the US or about $50 international/Canada. The collector's edition does not come with a serial, so you're not repaying fo rthe game or anything.

I am really unhappy with the shipping, it costs almost as much as the game itself. I wish shipping companies didnt gouge Canadians for just for living on the other side of the border.

I know that feel, being here in europe sucks... It costs me about 2/3 of the price of the CE to ship...I wonder why it's so expansive tho, guess taxes and shit...

Weight - the CE box is 4.5 lbs, which practically doubles the price. :(

Well, easy solution.  Just get valve to develop MOIP for steam; you know, matter over Internet protocol.  Simple!  O:)

Damn you, use KG I say! :P Hahah, and Isn't there some way to get rid of that heavy box and replace it with a lighter box? No wait, don't...I might be unable to buy it than since I'm waiting for money to buy rebellion before I can order the CE(Damn you for not making me able to take 1 of the spots already >.<)

How far from the US border are you?  Might be time to make a friend on this side of the wall.  :)

Working in the Cargo/Shipping industry the weight line that freight carrier's feed you is a load of horseshit.
It costs them the same to ship something from florida to new york as it would florida to Toronto but they charge you 5x more for crossing a border.

Stardock, suggest talking directly with the following Carriers:

R&L Carriers

Central Transport Inc

YRC Roadway

i never got an email :( but i preordered rebellion when preorders first opened up, and when the beta became available, i screwed up and didnt have enough funds in my bank account to cover the cost, so i had to re-preorder(?) the game, maybe thats why? luckily i was able to make it to starbucks today, and saw that the CE was available, or i may have missed it completely. im still kind of disappointed though, i really wanted a low serial number and so i have been checking both my regular inbox and spam box religiously, and i missed this thread since keeping up to date in the forums on a phone is a bit painful...

Anyone know about how big that Kol model is? are we talking Hot wheels size or a couple of inches more? I know it's not really important I'm just curious

Quoting Yarlen, reply 72
The Kol is approx. 8 inches long, 2.5 inches wide, and 5 inches high. The posters are both 16"X26" and are being done custom.
