What with the hate on the price?

Its a collector's edition. Its gonna be pricey! Your paying for those 'cheap' toys, items, and other swag.

Is any collector's edition cost effective for a consumer? no not at all. But you are paying to be an owner of a limited piece of one of your favorite games.

If its too expensive for you, then its too expensive. No need to go all emo rage on this kind of stuff.

Ive bought collector editions with ALOT less stuff for the same price. This is a steal if you put it up with other collector editions of other games!!!

Exactly, and Stardock themselves are saying this is at cost (which is plausible, considering there's only 2600 of them and I imagine small orders like that are a premium on shipping from *cough* China)

As I purchase tabletop miniatures and similar items, they routinely run $50-$80 for a single model, unpainted, and un-assembled made out of similar resin or a mix with pewter. Those tabletop miniatures are 'half' the size of this resin model. This is an absolute steal that they are selling to us at cost!

Was at first upset at shipping but glad when I logged in it went to $11.11 . I don't mind the price of the CE. The Kol model is just fantastic, I do however hope the model comes in a nice case or something protective and I defintely hope the soundtrack CD has the complete track listing. I got the Game of the Year SoaSE and the CD that came with it had tracks missing including Sad 3.

Thanks guys though I'd still like more resin models of the Capital ships, I'd be willing to spend up to $50 each. I feel I'm being very reasonable as you're charing $70 but including a steelbook case, CD & DVD, dog tags ,posters and mouse pad.

I'd buy this if they would take out the game which I own and really have no need for a CD copy, and reduce the price accordingly.

Yeah, as much as I'd love one, $120 [$70 game + approx $50 shipping] is way too much for me to spend right now. I'm running out of money as is, so I'm going to have to miss out on the awesome Kol model

Dude, read the first page, it does not come with a copy of the game. It is the DVD Making Of and Soundtrack only. You already bought the game, now you would only be paying for the Collector's Edition contents. And makes sure when you check the cost of shipping that you are logged in first.

March of what year?  I placed my preorder March 8th, 2011 and received the upgrade email at 10:28 this morning.  Took about 5 tries to get the order to go through.

I really wish there was a separate Sins forum free from the people who do nothing but complain about every single thing Stardock does.  If they are treating you so poorly, why are you still here?

I don't think we're complaining, we're just anxious and excited about ordering, and want to make sure we get one of the awesome sets.  It's pretty sucky when everyone is talking about having ordered already, and you've yet to even receive an email (still haven't gotten one myself).  It's more about anxious desire than complaining.

Damn.  I'd like to order it, but with my house renos taking precedence right now, I can't squeeze out the extra funds.  Heh, I would like it less for the "toys" and more for the music cds and the hardcover case to sit next to the other SINS Collectors Edition I have...

I'm surprised it doesn't come with an artbook or anything, but in a way I'm glad.  Now I don't have to feel really crappy about not ordering it, only slightly crappy.  :)

E-mails are going out in batches, and remember pre-ordering has been up for quite a while.  Trust me, there are a lot of you to e-mail.

As others have said, this CE is at cost, we aren't making anything off of it, and the price for shipping is the lowest we found considering size/weight.  The fact is, unless you are a high volume shipper things aren't that cheap to ship to, especially international.  

I got hit with a USD50 shipping price tag O.o OUCH

So that brings my total pricing for upgrade and shipping to Singapore comes up to about SGD140, holy **** O.O This is the 2nd most expensive CE I have ever bought, the 1st being Skyrim.

No, it's a game install DVD for folks who like to have physical media.

I know some people are comparing this to Skyrim or other Collector's Editions. Keep in mind that they made 50K+ of those which drives down the cost tremendously. We've only manufactured a couple thousand of these which means everything costs a lot more per unit.  Why didn't we make more? Because we felt we would only sell this many of them and we're making these for the hardcore fans, not to turn a profit.

As Island Dog and Skittles mentioned, we're selling these at cost and worked for weeks to get the best shipping price we could. (Keep in mind that until you log into the Store or put in your shipping address, what's listed is an estimate.)  Unfortunately, the weight on this ended up being 4.5 lbs, which put it out of the range of cheap shipping.

The Kol is approx. 8 inches long, 2.5 inches wide, and 5 inches high. The posters are both 16"X26" and are being done custom.

I preordered way back last year when the Rebellion announcement came out and I still havent gotten an email. Anything I should do or are emails still being sent out. (Kinda figured I'd get it sooner rather than later given how early I did the preorder).

I have one more question about the collector's edition. It said in the pre-order email that they will be shipping in late-July. Is this dash to signify that they will be shipping out late this month and into July or they will be shipping in late July?
