Gov’t shutdown, what does it mean to you?

I’ll be perfectly honest and state that I really don’t understand the possible repercussions of a Gov’t shutdown. The concept sounds scary but there are conflicting reports over just how bad a Gov’t shutdown really is. I myself find it hard to believe politicians who are stating that this would be disastrous for our nation as they always tend to exaggerate things for their own political purposes. I also find it hard to believe that an entity such as the US Gov’t can actually be shutdown without the entire nation being in some kind of “end of the world” situation.

So what do you think? Is this possible Gov’t shutdown being talked about in the media today really as bad as it sounds or being described or is this simply a lot of “typical” politician exaggeration and the repercussions will be minimal but possibly good for the country? What say you?

The government has been shut down in the past due to weather, In the final analysis, the only real repercussions is that a bunch of over paid employees get extra vacation time.

It should be shut down - except for essentials - which is defined as the common defense. The rest is an inconvenience, but hardly a catastrophe. And in the end, the truth is we are broke. Liberals think you can just print money with no repercussions (Keynsians). That has been shown to be a fallacy.

Yea, I figure the country is not gonna come to an end if a few parks get closed for a few days.

As you mentioned the US government can not be shutdown unless it is the end and of the world. This is a political games that politicians play to gain political advantage but it hurts the interest of our nantion, which shows how much these politicians actually care loans for people with bad credit
