The REAL Chatroom

The REAL Chatroom

Or alternative Chatroom

Ok, so I decided to create a new Chatroom, because the old one was getting pretty....old!  ;P

Everyone may post here, as well as in the good'ol Flameroom...I mean, Chatroom *_*

I would like to keep this Chatroom civilized. Well, as civilized as most forum threads are (doesnt mean that you all have to be polite like Oatesy, lol).

So for this reason, I may update the OP of this thread in the future, posting certain thread rules, as I see fit.

For now though, post away, and everyone is welcome! :)

End of morpheas768's quote

For me, summer time is actually worky time, so I can pay for mah new Toshiba Qosmio series gaming laptop. Oh, and a few new games, like:

Half-Life 1/2/Ep1/Ep2, Mass Effect 2, Mirror's Edge, Section 8:Prejudice, The Ball, Sanctum, and Audiosurf.

The last especially since I've just recently been dethroned as Casual Champion of Off the Chain.

The unadulterated awesomeness is immeasurable. Oh yeah.

In other news:

1. I'm considering writing a Mass Effect self-insert. The current block I have is WRT 'my' romance sub-plot. That is, should I wait out ME1 and find love with Miranda Lawson in ME2, or perhaps go with an in-universe OC, or another SI'ed female. The last, rather long-shot option is to go with a crossover'd character from another game, namely Alyx Vance from Half-Life 2.*

2. I have more people that I interact with on a bi-weekly basis now than I have ever had in any previous epoch of my life, probably combined. Most amusingly, IMO, is that this group includes a freshman.

3. Last Friday (03/06/2011) was the graduation party for myself, my sister, and a couple of friends. It went very well, and I managed to think of a short speech while sitting on the chairs next to the mike. Overall, a good time.

*Because Alyx Vance is probably one of maybe 2 or 3 fictional characters that I consider quite attractive. Miranda Lawson is also on that list, though I consider her to be lower down on the list than Alyx Vance, for the simple reason that Lawson is a bit of a frigid b1tch for parts of ME2, and it takes some work and time to warm up to her.

'nuff said.

Interestingly, girl in the year above at my school looks really similar to Alyx Vance. The day she turned up to shooting team practice in a grey hoodie and jeans really made me wonder if she knows this.

Miranda Lawson is also on that list
End of Whiskey144's quote

When it comes to ME LIs, I have to say that there are pretty much none that I would ever get with if I was in the same position as Shepard. Ashley is a soldier under my command. Nice person, but not at that time. Maybe after everything was over, the universe was cooling off after being saved, and we all got some free time (or retired, as I probably would think hard about if I'd just saved the entire universe), but not mid-mission. Jack, I would do the entire "psychological counselling" thing of the "relationship" but seriously, the end of the romance plot for Jack seems almost like rape. Oh, and don't forget how limitlessly unprofessional it is, seeing as you are meant to be saving the galaxy and that the moment you hop through the relay. I mean seriously, you should be checking your weapons crew, not mine. Same goes for Miranda. Ah yes, Miranda. Don't really like her. Treats everything like a business deal. Would tolerate her (being a tolerant person) but wouldn't be her friend unless she stopped acting like I'm a number. Even when she opens up it's brief, and she's straigh back to being a number-cruncher.

And all the others are aliens. Friends? Yes. Love interests? No.

Forgot Kelly Chambers! Maybe when far away from duty for a while. I'm not talking shore leave, I mean on holiday for several months at least. Same as with Ashley really. Don't know which one I prefer.

But tbh, RL girls win every day of the year for me (if not for Shepard lol), by virtue of existing.

BTW Whiskey what happened to your chirpse?

Pretty much entirely video games, though it does cover quite a bit of other media. There's really not a whole lot of characters in the realm of fiction that I find very attractive, but for somewhat odd reasons I suppose. Mostly in that I'm doubtful that a lasting and committed relationship could form between myself and said characters. Alyx Vance? Totally see it happening. Miranda Lawson? Maybe after six years and a metric tonne of booze.

NOTE: I snipped the text for the simple reason that I find it tedious to have repeated quoting of large blocks to text.

Anyways, I do have to agree with you. 99% of the LI's in ME are totally ridiculous. OTOH, it's something that makes a slight degree of sense, depending on the characters. Williams? You must be using LSD or something. Lawson? Tricky, but I'd say you're being a little trippy. Jack? Great way to pseudo-self-castrate. Xenomancing (<-catchy term for all human-alien romance options)? No thanks, I like my gals human.

I think I'll go with an in-universe OC that's partially based on a couple of people that I know.

And will be obsessively gone over by myself to insure quality work. I've already started building a reputation of quality with A Trader's Gambit; to release something of sub-par quality would destroy my credibility. It's also convenient that most of the lemons I've written were produced at much earlier times and have already been relegated to "never see the light of day, but be kept as an example".

Pseudo-spoiler?: a possible plot twist I've been considering for down the line is having Alenko and Williams survive Virmire, but both are heavily wounded. Similarly, my LI is also heavily wounded. Now I have a whole "kill Saren RAWR!" complex going on (who wouldn't?), though Shephard still gets the last shot in. Also, FemShep, and me being a bit of a jerk to alien crew. Seasoned with myself blasting the Rachni queen, since Shephard and Wrex are arguing and not deciding what to do. Yeah.

Tonight, at the youth group at the church I attend, I met a really strange person. Like, I didn't even know they really had people like that strange.

And she was very interesting, to say the least. What little conversation I had with her, I have come to a conclusion. She is either:

1) Completely, utterly, and totally loony.

OR

2) She simply acts like that because she doesn't care what people think.

Either way, most interesting and enigmatic.

This person merits further study.

Thoughts? Any "wat do's"?
End of Whiskey144's quote

Yeah, I actually didn't get to talk to her much, and I actually only got to meet her that one time. Rather a pity, too, considering the greatly interesting individual I suspect she is. Ah well. Still, there's plenty of other nice gals that I happen to know.

TBH, though, right now I'm not looking for a girlfriend so much as just building a friendship with the girls that I currently know. I also have no job ATM, so a girlfriend would be somewhat counterproductive. No comfortably-sized source of income makes taking a girl out for dinner/lunch/a movie rather difficult.

Incidentally, previously-mentioned OC LI for myself in my ME-SI fic will be partially based on said possibly-loony individual.

Also, chirpse=girlfriend? Or something similar? Please explain, since as of late I've become quite enamored of British slang and swears. Especially considering the latter tends to sound so much more badass and classy than most American swears.

It's also fun to call people you don't like "wanker".

Chirpse is a word with many potential uses. As a verb, it effectively means "to chat up." eg "Stop chirpsing my sister!" As a noun, it is the person who is being chatted up. eg "I hear David's got a new chirpse."

Other examples include: "On the chirpse again I see," basically meaning, "Chatting up girls again I see."

Also, you can just say "Chirpse," which basically is a way of saying, "(chirpser) is definitely trying to chat up (chirpsee)." Often said jokingly.

Hmm... They're actually really sci-fi, tbh, not that grimdark. They make me think of Western paratroopers, so that could be their inspiration. Also, bullpup lascarbines, with scopes. Very well equipped. Tbh the carbine's appearance and the fact that they have bipods on everything kind of reminds me of the French, but allow them being in WH40K. I might have to go with British Paras, or maybe someone more obscure, but probably European, seeing as you Yanks wouldn't touch a bullpup with a bargepole. Bullpups are really un-American.

I don't know about Bullpup=un-American. There's been a small handful of bullpup, American-made weapons. Though I'll note that the standard lasrifles used by the Elysian regiments don't have bipods, and neither do the dedicated grenade launchers.

Dunno about the last bit. Right now I'm in the midst of A Trader's Gambit. Once it's finished, I'm moving on to The Proof of Zeal. Prologue+Chapters 1-9 for ATG have been posted, as has chapter 1 of TPoZ. At present, the latter will be updated quite sporadically.

Once I'm done with Zeal, I'm not sure where I'll head next. I'm considering doing a Mass Effect self-insert alongside TPoZ, but I haven't decided yet. I have a couple of other concepts on the board, like an EVE Online/Star Trek crossover, and perhaps a Night's Dawn Trilogy/Mass Effect crossover.

Oatesy's just posting in response to me, I think. Also, because British slang is pretty awesome.

2) Modern day magic underground society style

Those are the 3 I currently have.  (Number 3 is my favorite at the moment, and the longest right now.)

I vote option #4, which is detailed below:

4) Register with FanFiction.Net, and post up all three stories, using appropriate chapter delineations.

Unless, of course, you intended to later publish these stories. In which case don't post them at all, and start pitching them to a publisher.

2) CS Multilaser. Because he gave Astartes multilasers, though funnily enough Thunderhawks and Devastator squads equipped with multilasers isn't actually that bad of an idea. Though he fluff-rapes in other ways.
