Whiskey I'm only 110 and more than likely weaker than you, but how do you write a fanfic cause I've got plenty of ideas I'm just tryin' to figure out where to start

Parkour's draw I think comes from the inherent coolness of being able to pretty much scale buildings/walls/whatever and go over/under/around in a relatively straight line to whatever destination you want.

BF3 vs MW3, BF3 FTW. Realistic physics engine, and vehicles in gameplay is awesome.

WRT to the fanfic writing, it can be hard. I actually started out with a weird-ass alien abduction story that will never see the light of day due to privacy issues in it (mainly the relative terribadness of the writing and the private thoughts of mine in it). The best way to do it is start with an idea, and try to develop it a bit. Figure out a very general, simple way for the story to go.

Like this: ship A gets stuck in universe B>ship A must find way to survive>ship A meets 'verse B peeps>other related stuff. It doesn't have to be all that specific. I personally don't use this, but that's because I usually write very "seat-of-the-pants", or on the spot.

For me, I tend to get an idea, develop it a bit mentally, and then start writing it down. It'll usually go through a couple iterations before I get it down the way I want. Some ideas will just die on the vine, some will get a little ways in and die, and others will go strong, then explode in your face.

And then there's the ideas that take on a life of their own and make peoples heads explode from sheer awesomeness.

At present, probably not. The Ruinous Powers are scheduled for an appearance, but for the most part this fic will be relatively Imperium-ST only.

But don't worry. I have another one that takes place during the Dominion War (2372-2375, as opposed to nearly 2400 in Gambit) that will feature several 40K factions.

Okay, I'm going to nip this in the bud, because it could get you ridiculed if you ever step foot onto a scifi debating forum. What you're doing is sometimes called bio-wanking. It's basically saying that the biotech race should win because they have biotech.

The Tyranids are undoubtably a potent enemy; it's just that they aren't nearly as unstoppable as people thing (all the 'dexes are pretty much pseudo-propoganda for each faction). For example, if the Tyranids prove to great a threat, the Imperium intends to quadruple Guard conscription rates, in order to deal with it.

Just guestimating here, but I'd say that they're are probably more people in the Imperium that are in any way suitable for IG service than there are Tyranids currently in or coming into the 40K Milky Way galaxy.

Also, the Tyranids aren't going to win, because it's really really insanely difficult to write a faction that has no concept of individuality or even personality as we (humans) understand it. There's also the slight fact that there's a whole lot of backstory to the fic that will be revealed as it goes on. I'll simply give you an unspoilerized spoiler: the Imperium defeated 99% of the Tyranids and Orks (as in annihilated them) and also defeated Chaos.

And Tau will not win because they're still small beans on a galactic scale (their Etherdrive can only be improved so much, and they have no interstellar comms). Plus the fact that:

Oatesy is right. Also, Tau=Depend-on-Authorial-Fiat-to-survive. Just to give you an idea of how insignificant the Tau are, consider that Tau territory is reputed to be a roughly spherical region several hundred (min 200) lightyears in diameter. Which would make it roughly equivalent to, oh, say an Imperial Sector. Which is a 200 lightyear/side cube.

The only reason the Tau are still around, is because they're simply not worth the Imperium's time to utterly crush, when you have Chaos, the Tyranids, and the Orks running around.

All the 'Nids in the Milky Way. It's known that Tyranids are extragalactic (from another galaxy) predators, as they entered the Milky Way from a vector that brought them into contact with galactic fringe zones before anything else.

I'll also note that the "look" of Tyranids is really nothing compared to the reality of Chaos. Tyranids are bad, yeah. But they only kill you and use your biomass for more gribblies.

Chaos will kill you, resurrect you with unholy sorcery, and then use you as a sentient meat-puppet-slave. Repeat ad nauseam.
