Lets use the engine of DeskScapes to take us all on our next Community Project, a thrill ride past the planets and out to visit the stars.  Using the random changer that comes with DeskScapes we can cycle through dreams of the planets and between each slip into warp drive.  Once we see the planets and leave out galaxy we may even find a Worm Hole to take us to, who knows where.  What would be nice with this theme the user will be able to set their own adventure.

Usually a Community Project is about creating new skins for a new theme but lets change things up.  Several skinners have all ready done dreams of the planets which can be used. The same with simulating the speed of warp,  Could warp drive be used traveling to the planets?

This also applies to the WindowBlinds as well as other skins, if you are a skinner and have made a previous skin that could be used that would be fine.  You may want to update the WB for Win 7. There are several Star Trek, or similar WBs themes that could be used.

The one thing that would need to be made is a DesktopX Object that would simulate a viewing screen or an observation deck, or both, on a space ship that essentially would be a border for the desktop allowing for the dreams to be seen. If even possible it should be made so it can be used with any resolution.

Now if the thought is that we should go with new skins that's okay.  Since this project won't be tied to a speific date we have the luxury of time on our side.  This would also be a good time to try out new ideas for animation in skins.  Another consideration would be size of the themed skins,
don't want them too big.

So first off we need to hear some thoughts and which way to go with the theme.. 

If this works maybe we can take folks on a Car Ride, Train Ride or how about a Roller Coaster Ride. :O

Which skins should we include? One WindowBlind for sure and how about atleast one for each skin listed below (more than one would be okay), other then the Dreams for which we will need many.

Yes, before you ask, I have nothing else to do with my free time, which is just about 24/7.   No, I am not going to take up skinning, you folks are doing a find job, why would I want to screw it up.:rofl:

 

UPDATE: I just finished going through the Dreams library, found 71 different Dreams that could be used.  This is not goint to be easy. :rofl:

I hae been just letting this project have a life of it's own to see what direction it would go in, looks very good. :thumbsup:

Two things need to be done, selection of a name for the project, so we need some suggestions and a completion date.  I would like the completion date to be after the new WinCustomize site goes active which means it will remain unknown unless someone from Stardock/WinCustomize can give us an idea or drop a hint. :wc:

There are still several skins that volunteers are needed for. :-"

Yes, I do understand the idea of the observation deck for the project.  What you are seeing is my desktop, and I decided to use three different images in the "windoows" just for something different for me.  I have 4 different versions and 3 of them are an observation deck with one image filling the three windows, without the labels under the windows.

I like what I see and what I am reading.  How much trouble or work would it be to have an Obversation Deck and then a View Screen setup?  It would give an option to the user or do we want to do that?

I am not sure if it is too many projects, other projects, or what.  Without  an established name for the project and a target date there is no sense of "urgency."

I do have some things finished (except any fine tuning based on what direction this is taking) and am looking forward to seeing if this project actually happens.

I still think Observation Deck is a great name, and it fits completely. As far as my making anything else for it, we need to know the basis of the suite. Is there gonna be a blind, if not, what do the parts need to match. If there is no blind, the dream or the DX should be the base skin for the suite.....

The name of the the project is Observation Deck.

For those wishing to participate, the cut off date for uploading of skins is June 20th.

The Theme Manager Suite will be uploaded no later than June 27th.

The concept of the DX Theme has been proven by RedneckDude.  What remains to be decided is what design it should take, use what Jim has developed for the DX Theme design for the remaining skins or a WindowBlind theme. 

Lets hear you thoughts on this.

I have modified the wallpaper so all three "windows" show only one image. I have also made a widget that is the center "window" that steps through the 4 different "views" - port, stern, starboard, and forward.
