Show off your Sins model (pick a page)

Think of this thread as something similar to conceptships.blogspot.com for the Sins community. Basically, a way for the community to share what they have created whether it makes it into a mod or not.

At a minimum post a screen shot of your model in blender, xsi, 3d object converter, etc or in game. If you have a name for your ship or story behind it, even better.

We are looking forward to seeing what you have created! :)

From the beginning of this thread IskatuMesk has wow'd us with his models and ultimately released a video of his creations in Sins of a Solar Empire. This particular model was my favorite in the beginning and still stands out.

SivCorp looking to stretch new ideas from existing models managed to create several menancing models including the fantastic Vasari version seen here: (Vasari Flagship Sonar Kal'd used in the Distant Stars Mod)

Well even 40k would be no problem, I doubt any player can built 1 in a meaningful timeframe on smaller games, or two on large ones ( but I think 2 would be the max )

You could give the large ship to the player at the beginning of the game in the galaxysceneriodef starting units but make them not buildable in game or just to expensive to have any numbers.

Symmetry is a fun modifier to monkey with.

I'm sure the verticies got messed up in them, though. But, who knows, some might be useful one day.

Outside of straightening out some stuff on the Glecterror I gave up on updating it any further. I'm just not skilled enough. Right now I'm gonna move on to the Zelconian Arcane-Class, an artillery vessel that fires Proteus beams/pulses across massive (multi billion km) distances and is capable of linking to others of its class.

 

 

The model itself is satisfactory but some edges need straightening to prevent ugly edges. I'm not skilled enough to detail it to completion yet, but I can patch it up and maybe detail some parts I couldn't before (such as the engines that are currently just squares).

 

There's several things to note about this model.

- I made panels to get baked into a normal map if I ever become skilled enough to skin this thing.

- There's several areas that have redundant faces that can be cleaned but have been left there for later detailing work if I ever figure out what to do/how I want to do it.

- The rear engine has been rebuilt several times and I'm still not very happy with it, but simply don't know what to do/how to do it. Zelconian designs as a whole are extremely vague in my head still, as they're all far too complicated and out of my league to model.

 

Despite this the model is only ~14k-15k triangles somehow.

Thanks, thats actually only about 4-5 different textures applied. It could use some small details and lighting but it turned out pretty good for a couple hours of work.

I may have to make a terran race with ships based off NERF guns now ;)

A relatively simple ship today, the Undead Blood Frenzy. Other than the Zeral`Motakk update this is my first Undead ship modeled in over 2 years. Ingame it would appear black with a phantasmal aura of glow around it.

Latest off the assembly line: Xin Heavy Interdictor Cruiser. The design for this one called for a heavy-set look as its supposed to be the "more armor, less firepower" alternative cruiser for players to choose over the regular Assault Cruiser. Hence I went for the beefy look. The gap in the middle is where the singularity goes.
