Harry Reid has finally gotten his Christmas wish, along with other Liberals in the Senate. Earlier today, I witnessed on the news many top Democrats like Senator Reid, Baucus, Kerry, Dodd, and so on comment on how this bill is so progressive in America and how this bill will make everything better for everybody. All these senators are pushing this bill as quickly as possible before the Congressional break for the rest of the year. But why? The answer is quite simple, their job security. Harry Reid, Arlen Spector, and other key Democratic senators up for re-election in 2010 are trailing in their state polls to their Republican challengers. Democrats feel if this bill is rushed through the Senate as quickly as possible, the memories on who voted on the health care bill will be distant by November. Some Congressional leaders however are making the right steps, for which I give support.
Recently, Congressman Parker Griffith of Alabama swithced his party from Democrat to Republican and said, "I believe our nation is at a crossroads. And I can no longer align myself with a party that continues to pursue legislation that is bad for our country, hurts our economy and drives us further and further into debt." The right move for this man. People who know who were opposed to Obama-care will let them stay in office rather than their Liberal and even Blue Dog colleagues. Don't be surprised in 2010, the Republicans get the 40 more members needed to take back the majority in the House of Representatives. And the American people vote out key Democrats when this disastrous, half-torn health care bill adds to the defecit and increases the size of the federal government.
P.S. Senators Lieberman, Lincoln, Nelson, and others weren't at the health care "celebration".
